Office for National Statistics (ONS).Where do they get their information?
Very true! It’s ever since we allowed that cockernee caaant into our university
Report in there saying Leicester has lowest average disposable income per family in the country. £16000 per household.
Says the city is falling apart.
Quite a a depressing article - but nothing we haven't discussed before on here.
No longer safe to vist the city centre sadly esp round the clock tower.I'm sad to read this.
I've always loved coming up to Leicester for the football and spending dosh in the boozers and restaurants.
Whilst that was true, it's a situation that ended about 8 years ago when the govt, finally, bowed to pressure and introduced a national funding formula. All pupils of similar characteristics are funded equally wherever they live in the country. Now, because of issues of deprivation, English as a second language and Free School Meal entitlement and other factors, the average funding for pupils in the City is quite high and funding per pupil in the county is at the average. Also all pupils nationally have a minimum level of funding irrelevant of factors such as deprivation etc.Another depressing fact: Leicestershire County Council’s schools have been, for many years, the poorest funded Shire county in the country.
The relative lack of funding was a mantra repeated in my days as a School Governor. Not sure what your source is wints but this dated 2025 from LCC suggests the status quo remains:Whilst that was true, it's a situation that ended about 8 years ago when the govt, finally, bowed to pressure and introduced a national funding formula. KP, just read the LA page again. It's referring to general funding, not School Funding, ie funding for Social Services, Highways, Trading Standards, Environmental planning etc. Since schools became Acadmies etc, and the revised formula was introduced, school funding sits wholly outside of County Council funding. The relative lack of funding was a mantra repeated in my days as a School Governor. or is itI remember years ago stopped doing the lottery because Northamptonshire and Leicestershire were the two lowest counties in the country to have any major lottery winners.
Irrelevant I know but………
...Mr Blair started the Academies programme....Thanks for the clarification Andy. I should have looked at it in more detail but the general low funding remains a real inequality issue (and that’s not just me wearing my old Social Services pork pie hat) for the rest of the Council as our newly elected Reform members are belatedly discovering.
The whole Academies model brought in by the Tories stinks in my view (and that of all my friends who have been teachers) That’s the end of my observations on the NO POLITICS forum.
Direct correlation between you selling your Leicester gaff and Leicester becoming poorest city in the UK. Greenwich meanwhile is booming!I'm sad to read this.

So the shitstorm is following you around?Breadfan - believe me its not all sweetness and light down here either.
