Did everyone get in in time?

When we strolled up at 2.50 it looked like some of the queues were horrendous due to the Covid spot checks. I heard a rumour that at some locations they were checking everyone, but then they gave up entirely when they realised they were creating a problem. Any one miss kick off?

I see this morning the govt has decided Covid passports are not being introduced, but thats for discussion elsewhere.

Queued for ages then wankers pushed in got to check point all they were checking was tickets ..Faackin joke

Got to seat on time as teams came out!!!

Could not organise a Piss up at Burton!!

No problems getting in as I was there early. Getting out was a nightmare as the daft sods had left the barriers in the way so it funnelled into a very narrow gap! 🙄

Checking everyone at my turnstile, showed my nhs qr code on the phone to the hired help as proof of vaccination all he had was a notepad and pen "that's all fine sir thankyou" says he, how is that safeguarding anyone could of been any qr code ?

It’s been the same right from the first check at our cup SF at Wembley. At the festivals they have a scanner and check ID against it. The football ones are pointless.

Took my dad to his turnstile at 2.00 and he had his checked and then we went round to the family stand and had mine checked. They seemed to be doing everyone at that point but that is pretty early so no queues. Seemed to notice more search dogs than before - are they sniffing out drugs, flares or seeing whether everyone has clean pants on? Not police handlers I should add.

Covid sniffer dogs.

Lass at our turnstile was recording Covid status as a five bar gate on a laminated sheet.

Seemed chuffing pointless and as if the club were doing a tick box exercise to appease the wankers in government who’ve overseen and ushered by 130k deaths.

Genuinely didn't realise they have covid sniffer dogs!

I’ve been to loads of sporting events, gigslarge and small and a festival and at no time has anyone checked my I’d against the negative test or QR code, or scanned it, apart from when I went to Germany but even then the code wasn’t scanned once.

To do the checks properly should take 30 seconds. Thirty thousand fans equates to fifteen thousand minutes. If there's (say) forty turnstiles, that's 375 minutes per turnstile, or more than six hours per turnstile. Or it's 750 fans per turnstile taking 375 minutes (more than six hours) to get them all through. If they started the job in earnest at 2:00pm they''d have done 120 per turnstile by kick off. That's doing the job properly. They probably averaged five seconds for a cursory glance so they'd have got six times as many through, in that hour, which would amount to 28,800. But most people show up around 40 minutes before kick off, which would be why the checks were abandoned at various turnstiles, some sooner than others. (I need to get out more).

This brings back memories of what my smoggy mate told me of League Cup Final ticket selling arrangements at Middlesbrough (v Leicester). They only had one window processing credit cards. Folks spent entire days in the queues. Apparently.

Somebody at the club and/or PL needs to understand the concept of "Spot Checks" and that it largely infers a certain element of random selection instead of everybody being checked as is their intent. And, yes, they do say that it is everyone [over 18] in their messaging but I suspect a lot of people (myself included), especially those vaccinated, are going to see the headline and go no further because they know what proof of full vaccination means so would never expect that everyone was going to be checked (as is going to happen again on Thursday).

Yes, to do it properly is unfeasible. And, yes, it is undoubtedly an exercise in self-defeating pointlessness as, outside or not, people are forced into the sort of close proximity that they want to avoid & which is little different to what goes on inside the ground & where queues become so long that it just ends up in disorganised chaos as they bleed into each other and nobody can figure what is going on. So, this...

It now seems that the Premier League are still pushing for clubs to check everyone and to ensure only vaccinated or neg testers are admitted, even though the govt have abandoned the Covid passport plan. It enough to drive you the anti-vax conspiracy side.

Crazy eh.

I wandered round the stadium with a mate from Germany as it was his first visit and the queue’s were massive at every turnstile with about 15 minutes to go. We wandered around the memorial garden for a few minutes and joined our turnstile queue in the East Stand which was only about 6 people long. I reckon they had already been told to ditch the Covid tests.

I hear at Brighton there is an outer cordon a bit like Wembley where you have to show your negative test result or your proof of being fully vaxed before you get anywhere near the turnstiles.

The official website says they are doing spot checks tonight.

It then says spot checks means everyone over 18 will be checked. 🤷‍♂️

Was in the ground early on Saturday but they did check me & my lads phone thoroughly, one of my other lads has gone up tonight, he’s only had 1 jab but did a lateral flow test, told him to get to the ground early…
