Crazy Games or Trips You’ve Made.

Following a couple of posts on @Filbo65 ‘s thread about his mate doing all 92 in one season, I think the craziest I’ve ever done was a 68 hour trip with just 34 hours in South Africa in 2010 for the World Cup.

I was away for 3 nights, two spent on a plane and one in a B&B.

I went to England v USA in Rustenberg (that was forgettable) and the following day Serbia v Ghana in
Pretoria, then back to the airport.

Has anyone got a trip to rival this for craziness?

England Vs Croatia Semi Final in Moscow with Hertsfox. Flew from BKK, watched semi, then hung around for 3rd place play off and back home around 3 days later! Despite the result an unforgettable experience.

Did similar for Atletico Madrid at home in UCL.

In 1967 as a 12 year old went with my mate on the Coach to Barrow for 3rd round cup tie, got back into humberstone rd near the Palais at 10.45pm with about 5 minutes to spare to catch the L8 to Wigston Fields! These days kids don’t even walk to school at that age! Won 2-1👍

Middlesbrough away in the 70's...
My mate met a girl while on holiday in Spain. She told him her dad ran a boozer near Ayersome Park. Some months later we used the fixture to look her up and surprise her.
Train from Leicester 7.30am, via Derby, York, Darlington. Arrived at 12.30. Boozer didn't exist, we lost 2-1, asked a local where the best post match drink was, he said Darlington.
Train back to Darlington(a graveyard of a place) train back to York missed the last connection to Derby, had to sleep on station til 3.30am, then got on what they used to call the Milk Train to Normanton, then Derby, then Nottingham. Arrived back in Leicester 8am Sunday, no buses running until 10am, walked back to Humberstone, crawled into bed around 9.45am totally fed up and knackered.
Didn't speak to my mate for weeks!!

Went to see us in LA vs PSG in 2016. Sat with the Wints. Happened to be going to LA on holiday to see my brother in law. Was arriving on the day of the match. Changed the flights to 2 days earlier. Bizarrely my wife agreed without question! Great occasion despite the result

A few years ago we were going to Barcelona for a few days.in March so I got tickets for Barcelona v Ath Bilbao
We left to go to Luton airport on the Sunday very early for a 7:30am flight
Lots of snow, struggled down the M1 and the outside lane was closed.
Got to Barcelona at noon, went to the hotel and checked in.
Sat outside the Camp Nou at a bar having a beer in beautiful sunshine.
Saw Messi play, he scored at our end of the stadium and Barca won
What snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did a few one days trips when I used to follow England regularly.
Croatia,Poland, Portugal a couple of times & Amsterdam spring to mind.
Arrive at Gatwick around 6AM.Flight, then a coach into the City centre of wherever we were playing.
An afternoon of drinking & see a few sights, then onto the match.
We would be taken by coach straight back to the airport following the match, & usually arrived back around 4 AM.
I never considered them crazy, just a way to see the match without taking up too much leave from work, & save a few quid.

Mind you, they always took a couple of days to recover from.

And not exactly cheap but a means to an end.

I did Poland (Katowice) and Macedonia (Skopje) on day trips. I avoid them if I can.

When we played Cardiff away in The FA Cup a few years ago (lost 3.2) me & one of my lads was working in Sneyd Park Bristol (decorating a posh apartment) and staying in my mates pub in Weston Super Mare, the owner of the apartment was on the Cardiff board and gave me 2 tickets and arranged for them to be swapped to the Leicester end at the ground, me and Dan took the midday train to Cardiff from Weston and went on the lash in pubs near the ground and finished in the rugby club next to it, after the game we checked the train times and the last one to Weston was at 9pm, the old boy on the desk said ‘don’t be late’ we had a good few more pints of ‘Skull Attack’ in the City then got to the train station for 8.45, old boy said the train was on time, we got on it and the female ticket lady clipped our tickets and off we went, Dan nodded off and I must of as well, I woke up and saw we were in Ludlow station, I dobbed down to the drivers engine a bit sharpish and the ticket girl was in there, somehow this big feckin train had pulled in the station early in front of our little 4 carriage Weston train, the ticket girl new at this point that she had fecked up but could do nothing, we ended up in Shrewsbury as they said we had a better chance of getting a cab there, 2 hours & £200 later we arrived at my mates pub and all the locals were allowed a very late one in our honour…
The good side of this story is that the very rich owner of the apartment gave me the £200 back and said he would tell this story for years to come, but I had also put £200 on top of my bill for the feckin inconvenience he caused us by giving me the tickets… 😳😊

Me and the Lad for 2 preseason friendlies on consecutive days.
Game at Port Vale (liquid refreshments in Burslem)
Cheap hotel overnight in Longton (the undisputed “arse end” of Stoke on Trent)
The room shook violently everytime a train went past the window
Drove to York the next morning (Rail Museum, sight seeing and easy on the grog)
Game at York City
Drove all the way home after the match
Worth it? Yes,of course!

I remember that game, when it was drawn my mum said I will take you to that it's not far away, she thought it was on Soar!

Not Leicester, but a good few years ago I set off from my home on a Double Decker bus to Peterborough Station to travel to Newcastle for a pre season friendly with Fiorentina. Lovely sunny morning in Northants as I left the house in jeans and T shirt. Train reached Durham where the sky turned Black....right hand side of the Dulux colour chart {BBC Standard} . Into Newcastle station with stair rod
rain greeting me. Shopping centre and Strawberry pub to dry out, at least on the outside. Saw the infamous picture of the Monkeys Heed on the wall.
Into the ground and grouped with 30 or so Tifosi Viola. Really enjoying a nil nil until the Ref abandoned the game on 66 minutes due to the biblical deluge.
Now then....ran down the hill to the station and was extremely lucky, and soaked, to alight a southbound train as stories were abound of cancellations due to Scotland being diluted.
All ended well as the pride of the LNER limped into Peterborough station and allowed me to met up with the wife in the town bridge car park. Quick Change of clothes and we were up for a rather good night of rock music in the Cherry Tree pub, Oundle Road, delivered by local band Retrolux. Their party piece was to see out Pink Floyd`s Comfortably Numb with a harmonica and electric fiddle. Amazing sound.........
