He was working as a rep for Gibs and Dandy a couple of years ago, used to bump into him quite often. Seemed fine then, and he did the occasional guest pre-match stuff at the KP. I assume he lives locally.

Loads of ex players live locally. They move here and realise it’s actually alright.

Best of luck Gibbo. 👍

Sad news. Gibson always seemed decent when I met him.

A lot of managers stick around our area too. Micky Adams lived in Hardborough, maybe still does. Peter Taylor too, though that was as a result of his plea bargain with the International Criminal Court.

David Gibson used to live at Stoney Stanton where he was a postman, I still think he lives in that area. Colin Gibson lives in the West Midlands.
I think Davie Gibson moved down to the West Country to live. Dorset or Exeter way somewhere. His wife did have a hair salon in Stoney Stanton when they were there.
I used to speak to Tom Sweenie everyday when we both worked at the Stoke Aldermoor Plant in Coventry (when it was Chrysler before Peugeot). He was still playing for Lockheed Leamington at that time. Later on Tom introduced me to Jimmy Goodfellow in the Cross Keys pub in Barwell one night when I bumped into them both. Last time I spoke to him was in Sapcote Co-Op a few years ago. He still looked fit and well.
I’ve seen and spoken with Kevin MacDonald in the bar area of the Toby Carvery in Enderby as it was then (not likely now as it’s become one of those grossly overpriced Miller & Carter Steakhouse establishments). He was a coach at Aston Villa at the time!

I used to see Gibbo on his bike doing the post, this was years back though, 80's. They used to sort the mail at Shilton S.O. and then take the mail all bagged up by van to Stanton Post Office. Tom's wife passed away when she was in Hinckely Community Hospital, a mate of mine's missus worked that at the time and used to care for her, Tom was there every day

Tom was doing his shopping in Sapcote Co-Op on his own and I just happened to pop in for something at the same time as I was passing on my way home. We had a longish chat and Tom loves talking football.
And Jimmy Goodfellow passed away from dementia sadly too early a few years ago now. When we went to Gibbo’s book signing day at the KP that afternoon,Micky,I think he had travelled up from the West Country for it. It was the first time I had seen Tom Sweenie again for a while after a few years since too.
I’ve seen Mike Stringfellow a couple of times on Castle Street in Hinckley in the past as well. And bizarrely I also once met and spoke with him briefly in a chip shop queue in Sutton-in-Ashfield near Mansfield. I can’t even remember now why on earth I was there but as he was born in nearby Kirkby-in-Ashfield I guess he might have been visiting family!

Davie lives away from the area these days, but is a fairly regular visitor. See him a few times a year in our local pub visiting family. He's sharp as a tac and very funny, he played against my grandfather and brother back in the day, so it's nice to natter over a pint.

Davie was still doing his National Service in the Army when Leicester scouted him. Bert Johnson had gone up there to look at another player from Motherwell but saw Davie playing for Hibernian and told Matt Gillies to sign him instead. Mike Stringfellow was signed also within a few days of Davie. What inspired signings they were!
