Brexit

Genuine question... How do we get it to work? Because at the minute it seems like a total unmitigated disaster.

'We' voted for it, but surely to goodness not a version playing out like this?

Just get an 'oven ready' version.

Johnson didn't bother to check that the oven was busted & in fact, he hadn't put anything in the oven anyway.

Speaking from personal experience of trading with Europe every day it is no problem now, most companies have found ways to deal with the bureaucratic bull shit and are just getting on with things.

Unfortunately journalists are just journalists and are not actually dealing with these things, their information comes from big companies who are 6 months behind with their information or from surveys which always reflect the result the paymaster wants or are just plain made up to suit a political agenda

Businesses do trade deals not politicians

And some people assume their experience is universal. It's not. I struggle to conceive that anyone could have lived through the last few weeks and months and not seen the impact of Brexit on the labour market. Almost everywhere I turn people are bemoaning the shortage of labour, be it skilled or unskilled. All those poor people turning up to airports for holiday only to find flights cancelled due to labour shortages. And not once did it cross your mind that Brexit has had some impact?

Read this paragraph, and the links, if you have time:

Unspoken causes create insoluble problems

The consequence is that not only is there no going back, there is also no way of going forward. Thus Britain faces multiple serious, obviously Brexit-related problems that simply can’t be addressed by its Brexit-silent polity. To take just a selection of the latest news reports, these range from the shortage of home-grown produce, to the apparently imminent collapse of participation in the Horizon science programme (£), to the “existential crisis” of the car industry (£, ignore the misleading headline), to the £500 billion under-valuation of public companies due to “Brexit scarring” (£), to the calamitous damage to trade with the EU, to the related precarious position of sterling. On the latter, an analysis last week from the Bank of America said that the pound faced an “existential crisis” (another one) comparable to that of an emerging market currency and, crucially, linked this to “a failure to discuss and acknowledge” the effect of Brexit.

As I said in my opening sentence this is my experience of trading with the EU

Brexit has had some impact but it's been significantly affected by companies not be prepared for the impact of the upturn and the short sighted policy of getting rid of staff cheaply whilst they were furloughed. I work with a number of Polish guys, they didn't leave because of Brexit and anecdotally they don't know any of their community that have.

Brexit is getting the blame for a lot of crap management and poor planning and many still haven't realised that people will not work for low pay anymore

Only big companies? One of many examples https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1564117/brexit-deal-fishing-news-uk-boats-quotas-eu-fishermen-spt

Well if it's in the Express it must be correct!

Do you spend all of your time scouring news feeds just to find things to get pissed off about things?
