Brexit delayed again...

Personally I never water my scotch but I know some prefer it. At least it's not ice.

But ... is it ok to use highland water with a malt from the isles??
I do not drink 'scotch', under any circumstances. Generic scotch whisky is, to me, undrinkable, I have over the years been plied with some pretty expensive branded scotch, it makes no difference, it is horrible.

On the other hand a malt, even something quite mundane like Lidl blended malt whisky is quite palatable, I am no connoisseur of single malts, Mrs AFC used to bribe me with the occasional bottle of Laphroig, but with my taste buds pretty fucked these days the blended malt would probably be good enough.

As for adding water, I find a tiny drop helps, literally a couple of tea spoons is enough.

Single malt is a type of scotch, the type I favour as it happens (particularly the Islay malts which I gather you also like).

I consider generic Scottish whisky and malt whisky to be two different products, I understand that malt whisky is a major constituent of whisky but the addition of grain alcohol changes it out of all proportion for me.

I have no real experience of malts, other than the fact that I rather like them. No idea as to the classifications and these days with my taste buds being pretty wrecked, it is of mild academic interest only. Very occasionally I might fancy a measure, but I am not a spirit drinker and a bottle of my preferred tipple, be it Malt or original Jack Daniels will last me most of a year.
