Boro away 1988

Loads were there Gerry, it was packed.

I went up with a Boro mate and managed to buy a couple of tickets for their end.

We were brilliant that day.

Yes. We were given about 500 tickets in the crumbling corner. When we got there they were trying to ambush people off the coaches in an effort to get our tickets and the threat of violence just increased as the afternoon progressed and things went against them. Remember not really caring about the result at the start as I didn't really want Villa to go up but when the announcer at the start of the game started to ask their fans to keep off the pitch "when we win" thought f*** you lot... and we did (as the afternoon wore on "when" turned to "if" in the announcements). Their lot to our left jumping over the wall to the small bit of terracing at the front in an effort to get at us. Kept in the ground by the Police for an hour after 'cos 'Boro wanted to kill us. Only game I (with a mate) started a piss taking conga during the game (I am sure it helped their mood). As Wessy says, we were brilliant that day. Gave them an absolute footballing lesson.

Dodgy from the moment we got out of the Transit Van
They were mental that day
That was a day fighting as soon as we parked the 2 vans kinda held our own nearly came on top when we got near the turnstiles. Played very well and spoiled the party. Kept in the ground for an hour. Made the 2 drivers go and get the vans and drive next to the ground. Then we went to Whitby and went in a pub. A coach load of Boro there to celebrate promotion . No trouble nut when we got back to the vans we found slashed tyres so had to wait for the owner of the van company to drive from Leicester to Whitby to take us back to Leicester. He was not pleased
