Often see him when I’m pedalling through Anstey. My first City hero.Walking into Anstey this morning.
Sure he could still do a job.

Whereas nowadays the standard of Scottish players is atrocious.Bobby, signed from Motherwell for around £40000, was another of the talented Scottish players signed in the '60's and discovered by a scouting system that provided McLintock, Gibson, Sinclair, Manley & Sweenie as well. In later decades McAllister and Mauchlen were found north of the border and were great signings.
Yes surprised Ian Wilson don't get mentioned more I thought he was a great player apart from that OG v SpursWhereas nowadays the standard of Scottish players is atrocious.
His goal at Fulham in '83 was memorable - a shame, in that seething mass behind the goal, that I didn't see it go in. Absolute bedlam!Yes surprised Ian Wilson don't get mentioned more I thought he was a great player apart from that OG v Spurs
I remember the goal at Fulham as being a sort of redemption for Ian Wilson. I was delighted with the win and that he scored the goalYes surprised Ian Wilson don't get mentioned more I thought he was a great player apart from that OG v Spurs
One of my first City heroes.Just stood and had a chat with Bobby on anstey 'reccy' while watching the junior football a thoroughly lovely bloke,85 and still as sharp as a tack and still getting out on his walks
I was lucky enough to speak to Bobby when he was the assistant to Pleat and City played a pre season match at Hitchin Town. I too mentioned I was a fan of his and he laughed at how old I was to remember himOne of my first City heroes.
I had the pleasure of refereeing a City team that he managed back when he was an assitant manager to Pleat if memory serves me right. It was at Huntingdon, the night they opened their floodlights and they sent over a really strong team captained by Ali Maulchin.. I was given the appointment by Hunts FA as they were aware who I supported. What an honour in my reffing career!!! Still remember talking to Bobby after the game and telling him I was a big fan of his and he remarked you must be older than you look then son if you rember my playing days.!
