Blur - To The End

Watched it today, made me feel better about being in my 50s! Went to see them at The Charlotte in 1990 and they were fucking brilliant! Listening to Modern Life is Rubbish tonight for the first time in ages and remembered what a great album it is. Saw them in 2008 and was blown away once again. Can't be bothered with big stadium gigs but they're a great British band aren't they?

"To The End" is a 60s Bond theme filtered through Quark Strangeness and Charm era Hawkwind. Albarn sounds like Robert Calvert's clone on that and "This Is A Low" (not a bad thing). I also have a vague memory of seeing them at the Charlotte but it could be a fake one. Loved up to Parklife but kinda lost track after that due to moving to the USA. Thank god i missed all that britpop bollox.

Modern Life Is Rubbish is indeed a fantastic album. Their best I think. I listen to it a few times a year when I grab the CD for my car.

I get the same 60’s vibe with Legal man by Belle and Sebastian
