Bloody cricket…

Is this the fella that’s complained folks have been racist towards him?
I heard a snip on the radio “when we were on the team bus and we’d pass a corner shop they’d say ‘is that your uncle’s?’ “
Is this the one?

Yes. The very same.

He isn't whiter than white after all is he?

BLUE ARMY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You wanna hear wot the Hindus say about the Muslims and visa versa

Don't get me started about the west Indians and the Africans

Quite CBC. The lead item on the BBC Radio 4 news at 8.00 was how an England player had behaved at a party 10 years ago. Really ?

Mrs E and I witnessed the behaviour of an England Cricket touring party 40 years ago and they were p*ss*d most of the time with the exception of Gower. The world really is going mad.

What a silly person, why didn't he realise that it would be offensive to a small portion of the population a decade later

Amazing how that photo above, has the same colour scheme and font as Paddy Power.
One of those coincidences in life.

Yeah, if it's only a small portion who cares?

We all care CBC it's just a matter of keeping things in perspective and realising that the world moves on. We learn from the past to improve the future not try to erase it or vilify those who didn't know any better

Move on and pretend it never happened, so people can carry on behaving in the same way because nothing was said?

I was witness to a few touring parties in the 80’s when I worked for BA. Often stayed in the same hotels.

Was with them in Trinidad in 86. They do like a drink and of course were around the girls like flies on shit. The Sun reporter came to us and promised copious rum punches in return for any gossip. He crept round the pool like a leech. We told the cricketers and they laughed and said whatever he offers we’ll double it to keep schtumm! Talk about cat and mouse.
Quite interesting to watch them bat the next day knowing how pissed they’d been the night before. How they performed in that heat I’ll never know.
Botham, Gooch, Lamb and Gatting. What could possibly go wrong!

I would guess we’ve all done something years ago that we look back on today and think, especially by today’s standards, what was I thinking.

Here’s David Baddiel lampooning Jason Lee. I would bet at the time I laughed at this - but now it would be totally out of order.

David has long campaigned for Spurs fans to stop using the Y word. But even the Jewish community is split on this - some see it being used in defiance. I wonder whether David looks back at blacking up and putting a pineapple on his head and regrets it - or sees it as within acceptable parameters of comedy.

Yes we have all done things in the past and most of us learn from it. Hopefully for the better. If people are pulled up on it maybe they should listen and think about why it's not acceptable, rather than try to shrug it off as "banter".

David Baddiel talks about how he regrets the Jason Lee stuff in his book, although he's never apologised to him directly.
