Bernard Cribbins RIP

When the description of being a “national treasure” is very true.
His “hotel guest” appearance in Fawlty Towers was comedy genius at work and pitch perfect!

And really seemed a decent sort an all.

For my age group his narration of The Wombles is perhaps most fondly remembered.
And yes, the Fawlty Towers appearance. Then more recently my kids enjoyed him in Dr Who.

A more obscure, yet memorable performance, was as Gertrude Stein in the '78 film Adventures of Picasso, with Wilfred Bramble playing her partner Alice.

Invited to a corporate golf day at Foxhills once and the highlight of my day was seeing Bernard Cribbins wandering around with a shotgun to shoot various furry intruders :)
