Are Arsenal bottling it?

yes, that's why i said we played the best team in the league yesterday.

Arteta has done a great job but, let’s face it, he’s no Guardiola. Arsenal are feeling the pressure and it shows. There’s an air of inevitability about it all.

I’ve thought that for a good couple of months now and said as much around our office which has a big Arsenal bias.

This is where real man management comes in. Let’s face it, we were under a lot more pressure in 2016 in that we’d never won it before, probably knew we’d never get the chance again and the world was waiting/expecting a fairytale. Match 29 was 1-0 at Watford. We then won the next 4 but Ranieri, and this is where his experience counted, totally took the pressure off the players. He pretty much mocked the press, constantly saying we hadn’t even got CL yet. Only with 4 games to go did he admit publicly that we now go for the title.
Arteta’s whole persona to me is one of ‘typical’ Southern European behaviour. Over excitable when it’s going well but sulky and mardy when it’s not. He tried to hide his ‘anger’ yesterday but got it completely wrong in his interview

Quote: Very disappointing," said the Spaniard. "The way we started was superb again, we were in total control, then we lost purpose. We gave them hope, then conceded a terrible penalty. The purpose we needed for the third and fourth goal, I didn't see it."

In other words he blamed the players. He’s 100% right but you don’t ever do in public. Mourinho never does it. Ranieri never did it for example when we lost at the Emirates.
He sulks. Same as Poch. Their nervousness transfers to the players.
Finally when is the 4th official going to reprimand him for standing pretty much on the edge of the pitch and getting in the way of players as he did yesterday.
Oh well it’s the hope that kills you

I really hope they right royally screw up....they can then open a can of Premature Ejaculation to celebrate absolutely nothing at all. A famous North London brew.

On the contrary. The night during that season when we beat them 2-1 at the KP, he lambasted his players for not following his instructions (or words to that effect) in the post-match interview.

Tin-tack followed...

You’re correct. I remember that. But I was particularly talking about winning the league. That night Mourinho was at the end of his tether and just went into a rant. It was actually quite funny to watch.

Very true. As soon as the words came out of his mouth, you knew that was it.

mourinho like rodgers (but with a much better track record) is: all me when we're winning, all them when we're losing.
