Anyone watching the Wimmin?

Equality means we can call it for what it was...a terrible penalty shoot out. That's fine.

I enjoyed the match. I'm pleased they won. I'll be watching the semi finals. Still was a terrible penalty shootout.

And i guess I'm watching different TV, listening to different radio, reading different news. I've not come across anyone telling me that women's football is equivalent to mens. Not saying it doesn't exist, just not on my radar. If I didn't know better i'd assume it's a case of fragile mascalinity. Seems to be all the rage.
Well said

SO You Want EQUALITY for Mens and Women's football. Simple STOP making excuses TV Commentary "Bronze didn't know she was behind her" "Unfortunate to get caught out of possession" etc. Cry me a fucking river. If that was a bloke you'd all be in meltdown "He should know better at this level" and the press would savage him
The commentary was pretty rubbish generally. The guy seemed to think he was on the radio telling us the bleeding obvious. The ball is now in the centre circle. England attacking down the right. The goalkeeper falls to the ground. Etc.

You got to love equalisers in time added on for time wasting. Lovely stuff.

I said they’d be 5 mins but realistically it would be 4. In Europe they rarely add on much. Gobsmacked it was 7.

In general terms this has to change in football. It’s completely ruining the game. It’s blatant cheating. Everyone knows it. What a dreadful situation it is that this is what we are teaching kids about the ‘beautiful’ game.

Play stops = stop the clock.

Apparently in the last WC there was just 42 mins of actual play!

Tbf to the Italians they have always been masters of the dark arts.
I recall the men's team in the 70's and 80's frustrating the hell out of the opposition with cynical fouls , time wasting and all manner of things when they wanted to close a game out.

Find it weird the blokes who go mad in the pubs when they score and I’m no matcho man , just can’t ger on with it at all.🤔

Nothing to do with women playing football. It’s supposed to be a news programme, the fact that there is a final is newsworthy but not 15 minutes in every half hour segment, don’t interview random people in Switzerland or someone I’ve never heard of waiting to board a plane at Heathrow. There is so much going on in the world that needs to be reported on which means devoting half of the news to one football match simply looks like self promotion.
And for the sake of clarification I don’t watch any international football I find it tedious and frustrating not to mention the appalling commentary and pundits so put your dinosaur emojis away

I'm very sorry to tell you, but your news will have more stories tomorrow that you don't think should be reported on.
Stay strong, it will pass.
Where did I say it shouldn’t be reported on? At least read the posts before commenting. This morning it’s being kept in perspective and sensible, yesterday it was about promoting BBC over ITV.

Me too, since 2018 I have watched one England international on TV - 2021 Final v Italy, that will be the last one, lost interest years ago. I don't like the FA, choice of managers, big time Charlie attitude, moronic behaviour of the fans, and I can't stand the big 6 clubs or their players, I enjoy not watching. On the womens game, I was a referee of some Womens games about 20 years ago, Midlands teams including Leicester. I thought the football was good then, lots of skill but very different from the mens game in terms of pace, physcal power, Goal Keeping, shots on goal and heading etc. What has turned me off the womens game is all the stuff around it about sexism, racism, mysogenism, wanting to be level with the Mens game that has over 140 years of history. It's like we have arrived, you need to accept that we are up there with the mens game. The thing is may never be but who knows in another 140 years your game might also evolve to become as massive, watched by billions around the globe. I did not watch a single minute of the womens finals, if that makes me a chauvenistic dynosaur then so be it.

Women's football has been around for longer than you think. There was a time when it attracted bigger crowds than thickens game. Interesting piece here...
