Anyone on here know owt about hifi kit, esp speakers?

If you want to know where to buy stuff, I can't help you.

I know a little bit, I collect phonographs and gramophones (so much as space allows). Speakers can be a pain according to size, in that case google is your friend. I've spoken to a few audiophiles that bombard you with too much information, it's a subject that should be approached with caution, trust me.

What is it that you want to know?
I've got a pair of '70s BBC speakers to sell. The sold prices on eBay for similar vary enormously, for no obvious reason – at least to someone who knows fuck all about speakers. I was wondering if there are specialist sales options, or anywhere to get decent advice / valuations / direct sales for such items...

Loads of vintage hi fi dealers around the country (one in Ashby) . You don't say what model you've got, most likely the LS3/5A and as you say price on ebay varies a lot.
Got to be worth a call to a dealer I think
Good luck.

Thanks for this. Yes, that's the spec of mine. Too many hours spent in close proximity to Lemmy's stacks for me to be able to appreciate their output nowadays... :(

A quick check says there were consistency issues when they were manufactured that plagued the speakers, so the quality varies. I'm guessing people can identify this through the production number or a sound check, hence the up and down price.

And sorry Filbo, the pic has me mystified. It's either the grille of a Corvette or the drone that chased me down the street last week. Little help for you :(
