Of programmes, I'm sure this will be of interest to like minded sad gits such as myself.
Take yerself back to 1989/90, we are shite under Pleat, Oldham Athletic are on a roll which would see them promoted (I think) and also give the shits a good game in the FA Cup semi final.
The second division clash at Filbo just before or after New Year (from memory) was postponed and the programmes all recalled to the printers to be destroyed. Hemmings and Capey pretty sure. Because of their fixture congestion the rearranged game didn't take place until the April (I think) and an entirely new programme was produced. However I have - told at the time to be one of 5 - of the originals saved from the flames by a City diehard at Hemmings. So, a programme which shouldn't exist for a game which never took place! And it is completely different to the eventual issued version.

I seem to remember for some of the rearranged matches they used the original programme with an insert or new cover. Might have imagined that though. Anyone else recall that being done?

Now, that is interesting . I shall update the "Bible".
I have a copy of the postponed game at Vicarage Road . Our first fixture casualty to covid outbreak due to have been played 14/3/20. Watford sent programmes for pulping. Informed only 7 survived. Who knows???
I owe a debt of gratitude to the late Sid Lee for providing comprehensive fixture lists back to the war. Lovely guy who ran the programme shop in Burnmoor Street.

I will dig them both out and see if I can upload summat on here even if it's just the covers.

That's right it was common and I'm guessing had the Oldham game been rescheduled for 2 or 3 weeks later they'd have done exactly that.

Syd was a good friend and we were in the same class at City Boys. He lived in Scotland in his later years and supported Caley Thistle although he lost the love for the Professional game and preferred grassroots. A great drinking and rugby mate and a lovely gentleman.

I was over for the postponed bucker

Back in the 60s I was laid up with one of childhood illnesses when the doctor made a house call. On the bedside table was a beloved football annual. Doc sees it and says to me" ah football fan then' Turns out he was a former medical officer for Fulham. Called Dr Martin would you believe. Then said he had a load of old programmes dating back to the 50s as well as newer 60s. Mainly London clubs but others as well including Leicester. Next evening he dropped off in a huge plastic bag. I was thrilled and a nice gesture from him. Unfortunately lost them a few years later due to over enthusiastic house cleaning by Mum
