A return to 'normality'

Yesterday I had the very great pleasure of being present at Edgbaston with my oldest and best school mates. Apart from providing proof of a negative lurgy test in the previous 24 hours and some perfunctory mask-wearing requirements it was pretty much service and enjoyment as usual amongst the 17,000 crowd. Social distancing (surely that's an oxymoron?) was neither expected or possible. The beer flowed(as did the old 'tea' secreted in the flask dodge), the Eric Hollies stand were in full footy crowd voice and the collective relief and enjoyment was very palpable on every smiling, friendly face. It hardly mattered what was going on in the middle, just being there was enough. A lovely taster of what's been missed and what's to come ere long.

It's a far cry from small boys in the park, jumpers for stumps. Isn't it? Mmmmm. Marvellous.
