693rd Lord Mayor of London!

Try saying Apothecaries when you’re pissed.
“Turn again Dick Whittington, turn again……and don’t forget to feed the cat”!

It was good to watch. All the armed forces represented, all the Livery Companies, etc. More than I ever imagined really. Part ceremonial (which we do better than anyone),part carnival procession (some of the floats were amazing),a fun occasion really with large crowds lining the route. Good to see that the Military ADC to the Lord Mayor was a black British Army Officer. And that the Royal Marines are always on vigilance if anything “nasty” should ever try to sail up the Thames. The Lord Mayor is only in office for one year before another is chosen. It really showed all the many thousands of people in the many roles needed to make the greatest city in the World tick!

At university it was customary for 'freshers' to volunteer for collections and other duties on the day. Our year we were tasked looking after a children's 'mini fair' in Paternoster square adjacent to St Pauls.

Early start but finished late afternoon, great fun was had by all.
