21 point recommendations.

Having read some of the Rodrigues report on the near disaster at the Euro finals and especially the 21 recommendations that have come out.

I would like to pare it down to just the 3.

1 The French and especially their authorities should never be allowed to run a major event for the foreseeable future.

2 UEFA should be severely fined for not properly managing, supervising and handling all safety aspects prior, during and after the game.(Stopping just short of criminal procedures)

3 See recommendation 1.

I know somebody will point out our own failings at Hillsborough and Bradford but lots of legislation has been implemented since.

Agree with all of the above but the French plod should take a share of the blame for their total inadequacies especially after the game.

The French, at least those in charge of important situations , seem to mismanage what in theory are basic things for a G7 country. But sadly I also reckon it’s some form of inner bitterness towards the British as a whole. ( I’m talking about the French authorities not the French people in general).
I don’t know if it’s a general arrogance but their police forces as an example seem to completely fail when dealing with large events. They had no idea how to deal with the Russian thugs in Marseilles and not protecting the English fans. It was the same in Paris whereby large gangs of local thugs were allowed to basically do what they wanted. A good friend of mine was there with his 21 year old son. He’s been to Europe with Liverpool many times and said this was off the scale. The police, if they were there, just stood back and watched the thugs mug the fans one by one with knives. When asked for help they just treated the Liverpool fans with total contempt.
Their police can’t be bothered with the Channel immigrant situation as well. It’s in their DNA IMO. The authorities from the top down are NEVER wrong. Their head minister of the interior is still in his job despite openly telling complete proven lies after the match.
UEFA don’t care as long as their UEFA family is looked after. The ex players and sponsors being wined and dined pre match whilst there was chaos outside.
Sadly nothing will change. The Rugby WC and the Olympics will still go ahead.

As I remember the Belgian police in Bruges were utter caants.
Ditto the Porto police.
Ditto the Madrid police.
Ditto the Vienna police.

The only police forces who know what they’re doing IMO at the football are the British, Germans Dutch and Scandis

Aren't the Olympics in Paris next year ?

Pots and kettles alert. We did not distinguish ourselves with the management of the Euro final. For "French thugs" read English thugs out of their skulls on weed.

The uk has had it's fair share of footballing disasters over the years. Hopefully uefa and other host countries will learn from this debacle.
