Most paid for the salaries of a team that managed 8th and got to a European semi-final. Certainly not as wasted as any team that failed to match that.

Perhaps think of it as money that has also helped support countless local people through their jobs and contracts with the Club, and people whose jobs are with suppliers – money that thankfully hasn't gone instead to people in say Nottingham or Coventry. I'm not sure I'd trust the FA or Sky TV to spend the money more wisely elsewhere. Would you?
