Beer at Wembley

For the European Championships was £6.50 for a can of Heineken. They even poured it out of a can and into a paper cup in front of your eyes.

For the final the price increased to £6.90 per can. Truly astonishing.

(I still had two or three though before kick off.)

Why is it a shock that the fan is being exploited.
Where have you been in the last thirty years?

If you didn’t like the price you should have done what Bnets mates did and jump over the counter screaming and shouting and scaring kids and just take the beer.

At least it was Heineken. At the cup final it was only Budweiser available.
My favourite story about beer at matches was in Copenhagen for our CL match. I was sitting with the locals. They were bringing carriers of 6 pints to their seats. Best bit was at a Heineken sponsored event they were only serving local Carlsberg. I asked them was that illegal?
‘Oh yes probably but fuck UEFA. Would you like one?’ Not like us who didn’t even serve beer in the concourse. Brilliant.

I was at an Ajax v Feyenoord game a few years ago now. You had to buy a credit card thing once inside the ground for €20 then you could buy drink with it. Most of us couldn’t be arsed with the hassle of it but one lad was adamant he wanted a beer. Bought his card and then realised because they were playing Feyenoord it was alcohol free beer only.

You get that a lot in Germany, the card thing. Also alcohol free beer occasionally at big derby games and European nights.

How was that Outfoxed? I hear Feyenoord can be a bit tasty.

It was great fun, a cracking game, Wesley Sneijder hat-trick and Edgar Davids played as well if I remember rightly.
It was a bit tasty between the fans but not a patch on when I went Lazio v Roma, now that was tasty!!

£6.50 yesterday at the rugby league grand final yesterday for magners. Poured from a tap as apposed to a can which was how the larger was served.

Why drink in the stadiums anything in a plastic glass is best chucked straight down the drain whether it’s from a can or a tap.
Rugby fans make out they are a cut above but they only go to get pissed and don’t tell me it’s peaceful I’ve been to Hull v Hull KR

Can't see what the problem is, should be allowed to bring your own beer into the ground.
just like Glasgow rangers 1967 down here....
leave it as it is. Little bit safer.

Why? Because I got in the ground 2 hours before kick off. You often do at England games especially abroad as it can take an hour just to get in some grounds. I’m not going to stand around without a beer in hand unless there is none available.

Same thing. Was there as a replacement for my Mrs who was meant to go with her brother (to rugby league) but wasn’t well. Free ticket, train and hotel. 4 cans on the train from 7am and one pint in Paddington at 1pm before Uber to the ground. It was 6.45pm before covert garden drinks do a few beers at Wembley was required. I’m an ale drinker but a couple of cold ciders went down well.
