Anyway

l never accepted the argument about not having a strong enough squad, l do now. We lost out because of that. We've played players out of position constantly, we've lost our pace and wing threat through injuries. We've relied on a truly awful centre forward. What up with Praet ?

We need a striker, we need a centre half and l think we need a midfielder who is strong and drives the team. Today l think these things have been highlighted. Not sure if Rodgers is a bottler or not, hope not but it looks that way.

Despite a bucketful of injuries to key players for weeks/months we’ve still done what we’ve done. So frustrating. To think one more goal in 80 mins vs 10 men Southampton would have got us over the line.
That vardy chance will haunt him

Back 3 desperately needs additions.
When Fofana went off there was no alternative but to weaken the midfield & put Wilf at the back.
Obviously Amartey is too much a liability & Morgan was only on the bench cause it was his final match.
Castagne is not a centre back

I'd have bucked big Dan in rather than weaken midfield

Forget what I or other’s opinions on here are about amartey, the fact Rodgers himself did not trust him makes no sense at all looking back at the chances he gave him over the last couple of months.
Bought him in for the Burnley draw & kept him in for the Brighton win. Then back out for a few games & bought back in for the Man City game & then the West Ham match.
I don’t see what he did in those games that was any different from what we’ve seen in the past for Rodgers to think that taking ndidi out of his position was the sensible solution.
Amartey did not show up in those above named games any better or any worse than he’s ever been.

We have also seen what good effect Mendy has playing in that position. It's not like Wilf was not used to playing that position.

Every team has injuries, and games where they "should" have won. No-one mentions our winning games where we were jammy, for instance playing ManUre reserves the other week. If we substitute actual results with "should have" results, we'd have won the League by ten points. Possibly.

Mendy looked fit to you on Sunday did he??
Watched a different game to me if you think that. Did not look in the least physically ready to play.

What I meant was Ess that Mendy has played that role to good effect this season when Wilf was used as a centre back, so it wasn't unusual. But like a few I was surprised when a centre back didn't come on.
