House prices up

They should tax the crap out of buy to let and air b n b.

They shouldnt need to build more social housing but the fact is they simply won’t let house prices drop even though that’s the most sensible and fair thing to do.
Land is very difficult to get and building costs only only go up. ( not helped by building regulations and modern thermal insulation needs ) it is time to stop bringing more people into the country

I’m going to have to move away from my home town because of mass housing.
The land along the A5 from tamworth to Hinckley is going to be built on and everywhere ruined.
I’ll leave until I retire at 60 then decide where to flee to

There is nothing wrong with controlled immigration, but we cannot just keep expanding the population.

I agree with controlled immigration. Even Labour admitted they got it wrong. There's more than enough wealth to go round in this country but the immigrants come in handy for a distraction, especially in times of austerity, while our beloved rulers syphon off billions for their chums and make sure the richest don't go without.

There's enough brownfield land in the UK to build all the houses we need. No need to keep building on these lovely fields. Although we could do with concreting over a few golf courses.

Does Foxgolfer know how you feel about golf courses? We are one of the most populated places in Europe, so like it or not we cannot take in people that do not add something to us. Those that do are welcome and can help us shape a country were we reap the benefits of our own ideas and actions.

Yeah let’s put loads of people into negative equity
And that’s the problem. With help to buy and all that nonsense there are too many vested interests to try and manipulate a constant state of unaffordabillity.

But for every person that would get negative equity there is currently someone who can’t afford to buy stuck in the rental system.

They are trying desperately to pump the system.

House prices are manipulated by governments who feel that they need to be seen to 'do something'.

Negative equity is a function of overlending and the British obsession with 'making money' on your house purchase, it barely matters if you are not looking to sell. That said, the inability to clear your mortgage when selling will put breaks on the market so even if you are trying to cut costs by downsizing, you will find that very difficult.

The biggest problem remains the disconnect between supply and demand, way too much demand pushes prices up which in turn pushes up private sector rents. This of course suits the banks and mortgage lenders and the government is happy as it keeps a big slice of the population hard at work.
