Many years ago, when I lived in Leicester, I read Ronnie Spector's autobiography. Phil was bordering on genius, but not the nicest of people. As a famous producer, getting a song-writing credit on as many songs as he could get away with was one of his tricks.at least his new condition will improve his physical appearance.
No he went to prison got at least 19 yrs for murder, he thought he was untouchable until several women testified against him. A genius music producer who forgot what he can and can't do.Best thing about his was the monicker, "wall of sound"...pretty cool.
Didn't read his autobiography but wasn't he a wife-beater and also killed someone byt somehow escaped justice by fleeing, like Roman Polanski?
I think that's the key point. He forgot a very long time ago. I think life sometimes gave him an awakening, but he was too rich, and too able to recreate his own bubble and move on and carry on as before. I know that they were very different, but for me, there's something of the Michael Jackson about him in some ways.A genius music producer who forgot what he can and can't do.
I guess it can be interpreted like that if you're being kind to him. I see at as she escaped from years of his abuse. He more or less imprisoned her.I think losing Ronnie made him a little more bonkers.
Definitely. I mean, he was already a headcase.I guess it can be interpreted like that if you're being kind to him. I see at as she escaped from years of his abuse. He more or less imprisoned her.
Possessive, ultra-jealous, totally mad. I think the saddest thing is that he scuppered her career, due to jealousy. Saddest, surreal moment is when he bought her a car, complete with a 'dummy' version of Spector sitting in the passenger seat, just to make sure that it looked like she wasn't alone and ward off any male interest in her. (If I remember well, the dummy had a fag in its mouth.)Considering the hell he put Ronnie Spector through, these were her words:
Working with Phil Spector was working with the best. So much to love about those days.
Falling in love was like a fairytale.
The magical music we made was inspired by our love.
He was a brilliant producer, but a lousy husband.
The music is forever 1939-2021
