New Highway Code changes

Why do drivers of motorised vehicles have to make the compromises but the pedal cyclists don't?
Compromise? Like slowing down a bit and waiting 5 seconds while I cyclist goes past a junction?
The fucking useless Labour council are spending millions and building shit loads of those cycle lanes all over the city because the spastics nowadays don’t know how to ride a bike.
Or maybe because motorists are impatient and aggressive and impatient?

If 100 cyclists decided to use the A447 as the same time, they could potentially cause a tailback of 4,000 cars. If we assume 200 cars per mile, that is a 20 mile tailback.

All cyclists should be shot.

Tonight on the A447 there was a Lycra clad loony causing a 40 car tail back, why not stop and wait 5 seconds whilst the cars safely overtake?
What is it with the Lycra? I know they wear the hats to look like bellends. Not happy with acting like one and I’ve never met one that isn’t all nasally. It’s not difficult to blow your fucking nose.

So neither of you were there or are familiar with the section of road I'm referring to but you know what happened, is that about right?

As a point of reference there was one cyclist not two, I believe the same person cycles the route home from work every night, at around 5 o'clock the road is very busy it has sections where it's difficult to over take whilst maintaining a safe clearance. On the section past Cadeby the road is fairly straight with a slight incline, cars had been following the bike for some distance and therefore a significant tail back had occurred. This caused the vehicles to come to a stand on several occasions and therefore as the passenger in the car I was able to count the sets of tail lights in front

see this all the time on abbey lane in the rush hour

just one cyclist can cause quite a tailback because it is not possible to overtake with other traffic in the outside lane

Nothing like queuing traffic to ramp up the pollution levels

So you’re blaming pollution levels on people that don’t emit any pollution.

Interesting.

Causing traffic congestion will always increase pollution. Every vehicle that has to slow down and then accelerate to overtake a cyclist it's using more fuel than it would whilst cruising

Maybe, and just hear me out here, if we tried to get more of the things that cause pollution off the roads there might, but I’m not 100% on this, be less pollution.

But you carry on blaming cyclists. 👍

You're quite correct, the only trouble is you're about 150 years too late. We've now all got homes that are not next door to our places of work and therefore many of us have to us a car to get to work. I travel to work in a motor car, it's 15 miles each way and takes 30 minutes. I am physically incapable of cycling that distance and the same journey by public transport takes close to 2 hours (including walking the last 3/4 mile) My nearest large shop is over 2 miles away, I might be able to walk that far but I couldn't carry the shopping on the way back. It's not a case of blaming anyone but you can't deny the physics of it. Cycling is an option for some but not all, and cyclists are increasingly becoming smug and selfish and think they are in some way more entitled to use the roads than the rest of us.

I’m not saying everyone should stop using cars, or that everyone should start cycling, I’m not stupid enough to tar lots of people with the same brush, unlike yourself.

38% of British journeys under 2 miles are made by car or van.

Nobody is more entitled to use the roads than anyone else, until people realise this there will always be division/aggression.

Well entitled is an emotive word we could get into all sorts of discussions about that. I tend to think of it as good manners, if I was walking slowly down a street and people wanted to go past me I'd move to the side and allow them to go by
