Some Notts Stuff

Brum at filbert st early 90s...sleet snow and fecking freezing...the game was on central match live , should've stayed at home.

Well I was at both, we stood on newspaper in the smoke, couldn't feel my feet at all. Her indoors still goes on about it now... you must have got a warm bit.

I suspect it would have depended on how many layers of his beer overcoat he was wearing at each game. I was at both and the Barnsley game was balmy in comparison.

Actually the Burton replay at Cov was about as cold as I'd ever been. Glad l got slung out at half time.

WBA away 1962. I was 9 with my Dad. Hawthorns is the highest elevation football ground in England. The pitch was like frozen tundra. Leicester played like a bunch of Yeti’s and we lost 2-0!

…….just checked,not quite ‘62 it was December 23rd 1961. So I was 8 not 9.
Banks,Chalmers,Norman,McLintock,King,Appleton,Cheesebrough,Keyworth,Walsh,McIlmoyle,Mitten.
It may have been Robert Falcon Scott who scored Albion’s goals!

the first time l went Forest they had a big banner that said "Chris Crow". Did they used to be nicknamed The Crows and have a pet one called Chris before cartoon mascots ?

Chris Crowe, right winger, played for Nottm Forest from 1964 to 1967. He also played for Leeds and Wolves and just once for England!

Bunch of pussies, try working at the market all day.
from 16 years in the building trade, we'd all say every winter "fuck this, this is my last year I'm going through this shit", then we get the summer, forget about the cold then repeat the same thing. !!! We used burn window frames, planks anything we could lay our hands on the get warm.

When l was at collage we had the Indian fella who's only job was to mix for us and he spent all winter sitting next to an oil drum fire. We used put a bit of asbestos on the fie when he wasn't looking. It goes off in a few minutes like a shotgun blast, he'd shit himself every time. Theres a little tip for kids who want a bit of fun.😁

He’s probably dead from asbestosis now!

Didn’t JR get into that game posing as a newspaper reporter or something ?
no that was me.

My mate who came with me did an interview with WTMG and told them the story that l told him and told them it was him, that was Johnny B. I put them right, but it doesn't bother me.

JR wasn't there

I've still got the clips from the newspapers, l got a bigger write up than the actual game !

When I was about 14 we built a bonfire for Guy Fawkes Night and the interior was a den built from asbestos corrugated sheets from and old garage making it large enough to stand up in.
By the time the bonfire was finished it was huge. It was on waste ground that’s now used for car parking by DeMontfort University just off Jarrom Street. Because the interior was hollow we were able to start the fire from the inside - once it got going it was like and explosives dump going off with people running for cover.

Getting back to Notts stuff I was at that game early seventies when it all kick off on the bridge over the Trent. When the police managed some form of separation five of us found ourselves with the Notts lot.

We decided it was best to try to keep a low profile ... which was a little tricky with one of our lot having lost a loafer in the ground, me with a Semper Eaden badge on my Harrington and then one of our bunch having a car run over his foot which drew a bit of interest. Managed to get to the station unscathed and merge in with Leicester fans before it all got going again in the street by the side of the station.

Them Notts scum probably hadn’t got a clue what Semper Eaden represented.
