Spartak away; tickets on sale tomorrow

Moscow is the only place during my England travels, where I had to " Have it on my toes" as they used to say.

We suffered an ambush mid afternoon, & some took a right kicking.

All rather a shame really , as apart from that I had a great time. So many iconic sights & the locals were friendly.

The Club announcement actually lists the cohorts able to buy a Spartak ticket on Thirsday. There is a pecking order for the 675 tickets, and it goes all the way down to members with at least one home or away priority point. So basically, that's anyone who knows we usually play in blue.

The Club can't say what will be needed to travel, or indeed whether the permission for away fans to attend will not be revoked, because that depends on Putin, although they maybe should have put a link to the gov.uk website where the latest details are shown for what's required for international travel to various countries, and for returning home. As regards Russia, you need to get yourself to London, Edinburgh or Manchester to have your fingerprints biometrically scanned and pay a shed load of money for a visa which can take 20 or 30 days (I forget which) to come through. There is a one week (maybe shorter) "emergency" process for "essential business" but "going to watch a football match" is unlikely to cut it.

Unless there's folk who already hold the necessary travel paperwork, I'm struggling to see how ANYONE will be able to go.

But I'd not risk my neck there anyway.

3 day express Visa

3 day express Visa
Yes - but have you checked if a football match will entitle you to the express service (I haven't). The gov.uk page says this:

"You’ll need to get a visa from the Russian Embassy before you travel. Processing times are up to 20 business days for standard service or up to 3 business days for urgent service depending upon the visa category applied for and the application itself. As part of the visa application process, all applicants based in the UK aged 12 or over will need to visit a visa application centre to submit biometric data (scanned fingerprints). These are located in London, Manchester and Edinburgh. The Russian government requires biometric fingerprinting from all foreign nationals, including British nationals, when entering Russia".

The link is here www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/russia/entry-requirements where there's also advice on the shit storm of losing your passport.

There is also a page on "safety and security" which is worth a look.

Good luck!

Spoke to someone who got their visa recently on express and it took them 6 days. Given its now 6 days until kick off I’m gonna have to u-turn sadly. 250 quid application with no guarantee + cost of getting to London and potential hassle of cancelling flights + accommodation. Club tried their best to ensure nobody goes.
