The woke wankers cried

So are you saying that a compulsory system is wrong?
Isn't that allowing free will for those who don't want to pay into the system?

Just back in from a short amble down by the water, bit of fresh air. We are right on the harbour with water no more than a couple of hundred yards on 3 sides.

I am simply saying that I do not like it being compulsory, I would prefer to be allowed to make my own provisions with my own capital. I might choose to buy insurance, I might not, that would be up to me.

I fully appreciate that there is no way of getting to my preferred scenario from where we are now so it is kind of academic, just getting my thoughts in order really.

The reason I ask, is because you are saying it would be OK for people not to insure themselves against the future. Which seems to be counter to the argument you were making, about people that haven't contributed. Or do you mean you could either insure, or use assets instead? What is you have no insurance, or assets? Do you go off quietly like a Native American and die somewhere convenient and out of the way?

Insurance is an interesting area.

Links in with my point last night about paying for a fire brigade you hopefully won't need.

I know.

It's complicated because we are really only able to discuss this in the context of where we are at this point in time. It is the old joke with the punchline, 'If I was you I wouldn't start from here'.

We have a system that is unfair and fails a lot of people, right now I am dealing with the inequality that requires some people who have worked hard all their lives and managed to organise their affairs so they have a little capital for their old age have to pay whereas others who have made no such provision, do not.

Interesting to look back on this thread, so 'innocent' compared to where are now.

Government sponsored population replacement, covid scam unravelling, green agenda beginning to hit, rampant inflation, globalist takeover of Westminster all now writ large'

All this destruction is playing out, sometimes in unexpected ways, but for the foreseeable future it is only going to get worse.
