I don't think that I was trying to claim that, just that the christian tradition was, by and large, how these ideas were taught to me.
I certainly do not believe that christian teaching is in any way unique or special, but they were the teachings I grew up with, and they have, by and large, stood the test of time for me.
Nice subject change, by the way. Wanting something for nothing, I call those people socialists. But both statements are 'givens'.
As for providing a safety net for those in genuine need, I have never argued against that, quite the opposite in fact. I simply do not see how splashing tax payers money on those who are not in real need helps those that are.
In fact it does just the opposite by taking resources from where they are really needed.
As for my 'solution', I do not have one, I think our system is broken beyond repair.

I came very close to voting for the 'cock and ball' candidate in reality.
In the end I decided to engage in the process, abrogating my responsibility would not allow me in all conscience to comment on the performance of the government. That was my reasoning.
Fortunately it has turned out pretty well, just look at all the new friends I have on here...

I would have thought that I had given you enough on this, people making life on benefits a choice, those deliberately making fraudulent claims, plenty of options to look at.
Money spent in this way is not available for people in real need who are not doing those things. I want to see people in need get more, not less.
The hole is just getting deeper - how on Earth do you determine “real need”?!
I’m sure many could come up with an arbitrary list they could agree with, until the moment they are in “real need” & find they’re no longer on the list.

Unlike your 'sausages' I am happy to discuss ideas and how they can be employed in the real world, getting involved in six form debates on the meaning of some words is just tedious.
You are right about the desire to put people into boxes, socialist style intersectionality at its most basic.
I get given a hard time for describing so many on here as 'socialists'. There is a simple way to resolve that, stop talking and behaving like brain dead socialists. The issue will go away.

What’s socialist about an idea you came up with? “Real need” would need to be quantified or described in some way. You can’t just invent a term & expect everyone to know exactly what it means.
So come on - don’t backtrack, deflect or squawk ‘socialism’ at every opportunity. Your idea - own it & explain it. You might be more socialist or Marxist than you realise.

I'm not missing the point. I was thinking about starting lots of new posts with information about vaccines, Covid stats etc that I consider to oppose the multiple threads that are started with Twitter links, Bitchute links, Flat earth stuff etc. but I don't want to spam the board.
There's so many of these started that it's easier to just get involved in a supposed grown up discussion about the point being made. But you see that as attacking you. If you can't take it, don't play.

What a shame - I don’t have an issue with anyone disliking socialism or any other ism for that matter.
I simply asked how you categorise “real need”. What you seem to be suggesting is that you do it on an individual, almost case-by-case basis. Which is unworkable, because as with almost everything, you’d need to set some parameters in the first place before progressing further.
To add, if it’s done on a case-by-case basis, then it becomes arbitrary. For instance you may think that person who had a decent job, became unemployed & then developed an illness rendering him/her unable to work, as someone who isn’t in “real need”, whereas another person would think the opposite.
But whatever the discussion, blame socialism. An unhealthy obsession.

I know we're going off topic, but I do find it a bit odd that you'll post endlessly about people you consider not worthy of financial assistance, yet not bat an eyelid on the subject of the current Govt enriching themselves and their chums, and the rich stuffing their pockets with their tax dodges etc. The benefits bill is a drop in the ocean compared to what that lot are pilfering.

So avoiding tax when you're rich is fine. Because taxation is a government thing.
