your guide to modern conservative speak

I thought i'd distinguish modern conservatives from those in the past that actually had a functioning brain and principles.

"oven ready deal" = "oven ready working agreement"
"we hold all the cards" = "we hold no cards"
"australia style deal" = "no deal as they have at least some agreements in place which we don't"
"chance of no deal brexit is a million to one" = "very high probability of no deal"
"no deal would be a failure of statecraft" = "johnny foreigner is nasty and won't let me get what i want"
"the uk will prosper outside the EU" = "minimum 2% hit on GDP"

winston smith would be proud.

Thats the spirit , grandad would be proud
have you no faith in the uk as a nation to prosper without the eu teet
i have

I think you are right Mr Running Fox.

The problem is...

To me it is rather like saying when we were in League One - "we are going to go up many more places in the league pyramid in the next couple of years than Liverpool or Man City are". Whilst a true statement, it reflected a massive fall that then allowed room for such "growth".

Then..."bumpy couple of years" depends on your viewpoint I suppose. To some it might mean opportunity for some firms and sectors. For others, the closing of businesses, the lengthening unemployment queues, the increased use of food banks, mortgage foreclosures, evictions etc.

Regardless of ones viewpoint, one can't help but surmise that this situation was wholly avoidable if the government had wanted to do so.

What’s Shaun Wright-Phillips got to do with anything?

I don't think Shaun Wright Phillips would have said those things to be fair.

When you see how the block kept prices high to protect the single market and held us back for years you will see this is promotion not relegation, when we trade with countries that just want trade, hopefully we can produce our own produce instead of grants going to land bank owners. We can not only regain our waters but the many offshoot industries that thrive on them. Countries dont trade businesses trade and they will find a way to succeed. The EU sells us a billion pound more goods than we sell to them, we need countries that want to buy from us not just dump stuff at us at a high price. Anyway lets compare notes 2 years from now?

Ah yes, the Mark Francois approach. Because oafs like him are exempt from the suffering that most of us will experience.
