Would We Be Better Off If. . . .

The Boundary Commission Report was due to be implemented some time ago, 2010 I think.

Strangely the tories included a reduction in the number of constituencies from 650 to 600 in their re-organisation plans but much to everyones surprise the MPs did not much like that idea. Still more or less in limbo.
Read the LSE story. The LibDems threw their toys out of the pram because of the Lords.
Anything – anything – that reduces the number of MPs has to be a good thing IMHO. The sweaties fucking off would be a good start...

We need to change the voting system as its unfair and biased towards the tories thousands of peoples votes don't count so its a disincentive to vote. Germany has PR and does OK?

Labour were in power for what, 12 years or so between 97 & 2010. they had ample opportunity to do something if it was so biased against them.

If the sweeties do go it becomes a Tory state. Weak to no opposition is a bad thing as we all know that without a credible opposition its only a matter of time before they start being cunts to people.

OK. Here's how it works for England and Wales.

Fifty constituency's with, as near as possible an equal mix of country and urban areas. Each area gets two 'lords', on a first past the post system, If two parties are very close, maybe one each.

Each constituency gets eight or ten 'MPs', selected on some form of proportional representation system, set up to reflect local interests.

This gives you the two 'houses', operating roughly as they do now, the current Lords are gone. Plenty of detail organisation to work out but that is the principal.

Most Westen countries have the position of head of state (king, president etc) and head of the executive (prime minister) as separate entities. The USA is unusual in combining both positions.

In general terms I think having a separate head of state is just another layer of political 'troughing' and would combine it with the role of the Prime Minister.
