Why is the ref

I'd have sent that cunt Zaniolal/Saniflo or what ever his fucking name is off, cheating bastard.
I can't stand Carragher, but it was good to hear him sounding off about it & being really frustrated by the whole thing.
The answer is easy, just let the trainer come on & the game continues, just like in rugby. That'll soon put a stop to it

Did anybody see Maguire's antics in the Sheff Utd-Manure game? Maguire was 'robustly' challenged close to the touchline and finished lying off the pitch and then just by chance (ahem) in his supposed agony managed to roll himself back onto the pitch thereby delaying the restart...

Does anyone know when ‘time wasting’ which we all thought was a bad thing turned into ‘game management’ which is apparently a good thing?

The difficulty for a ref is if they get it wrong and the player is seriously hurt
Refs can't take that risk
Well...in the Maguire case I cited, if he was fit enough to roll back onto the pitch it must therefore follow that rolling him back off again is unlikely to exacerbate any supposed injury...

It’s not the first time that’s happened and it won’t be the last. It needs to be stamped out though it’s cheating pure and simple.

Football as we know it is finished.
If its not feigning injury its something else. Send them off for 10 minutes if it is a head injury to get checked like rugby, it will stop all this bollocks immediately. In cricket if you get hit on the head you have a concussion test on the pitch, no reason why in football you can't go off the pitch and get it checked.
As an earlier poster said I don't like Carragher but yesterday he had the bollocks to say what everybody saw, a fucking cheat.

Ok think of it this way
Ref refuses player treatment
Players career finishes
Who gets sued
Refs are not doctor's

You are absolutely correct, however, how do we stop players feigning head injuries (Villa player yesterday) or do we just have to accept it?

Unfortunately we can’t. Again the difference between the old days and now. Also between rugby and football. In rugby they try to con the ref if injured hoping they can stay on. Football is ridden with cheats. The head situation for me is deplorable. Nearly every player that goes down holding their head is fine and they know it. But how is the ref to know. It’s not helping their fellow players either when you see what happened to Cech and Jiminez. The answer is ANY player that goes down with a head injury is assessed off the pitch for a minimum of 5 mins. Or they stop the clock. Something has to give as it’s getting worse

Not to be sweeping, but in most instances a serious impact to the head will NOT result in the player rolling around in an animated fashion.

However…possible head injuries should be treated seriously. It does put pressure on the club doctor to make a quick assessment (if he makes a wrong diagnosis, the player continues but then something goes horribly wrong later, there could be health as well as legal issues).

The doc also faces pressure from his manager - they go for the safety-first option & advises the manager to make a substitution, when the manager would prefer not to.

If the club has a genuine care of duty towards its players then regardless of what the manager thinks, the latter is surely better than the former.
