What Happened Today

I've only just found the score out as I've been on a flight since 11.00, just got the highlight on Youtube and we looked garbage, defence all over the shop but l can't really tell from this.

Were we crap ?

I knew Daka had been picked before we took off so expected little, as playing with 10 men is mental.

To briefly sum up.

For a period in the 2nd half we went toe to toe with them, after a ridiculous own goal that gave us a way back into the game. When it was 2-2 the game was pretty much end to end. We looked very decent during that period.
At Half time Chelsea should have been out of sight through a combination of our complete lack of pace and Sterling having the mother of all shit games ( including a terrible penalty)
In the finish the game went from us with the red card. We may have been better going 2-3 down and keeping 11 men on the pitch.
Going down to 10 was our death warrant.
Overall we played well but the lack of a top striker and the gaping holes we left for Chelsea to exploit through our defenders constantly wading through treacle done for us.

Pessimistic fucks..

We know we're slow at the back, and Hamza is a liability, but once we came out after half time and Enzo had obviously told them to be more aggressive we looked good.
Yep, Daka put the fear of god into them Chelsea defenders….. on another day would have bagged a hat trick

Personally I'd have put Cannon on after Doyle got sent off and played one up front, but what the fuck do I know. Daka aint the answer but we haven't a Vardy to choose from atm. We've been spoilt with Vards over the last 10 or whatever seasons. Teams like us don't usually have killer strikers, so Daka, Kelechi, or Cannon is what we have to choose from.

I’d actually be happier if it was just Kelechi or Cannon to choose from.

The only thing to add to that is that we witnessed Sterling take the very worst free kick since Robert huths effort in 2016...it was hilarious.

I initially thought he'd slipped and sort of double hit it.
On seeing it again it was probably worse than anything I've seen on viccy park.

If only we had kept 11 on the pitch because midway through the 2nd half their fans had started to turn on them.

All in all I don't believe it's the worst thing for us, it's full focus.now on the league and promotion.
We have got to go up automatically because to fall into the playoffs from such a commanding position will be too much of a hammer blow for us to recover from imo.

Although nothing is certain I suspect that whether it's the Premiership or the Championship we're in next season we will start off with points deduction, a fine and possibly a transfer ban which will have massive repercussions.
I dread to think about the possible scenarios...

Well whatever happens we need to start from the Prem.
Expect a nightmare season, take another parachute payment and then rebuild once we are clear of the sanctions.
The transfer ban might be irrelevant anyway because we won't be able to spend hardly anything until we have wiped that season where we posted over £90M of debt.
Once that's off the record we should be in calmer waters.

that would be true if we were recognising the reasons we keep losing, we are not unfortunately !!

if you keep doing what you're doing you'll keep getting what you're getting....

We went into defence mode post the red card.
Any threat of a goal was subbed off.
We tried to hold on for 40 mins by bringing defenders on.
That was never gonna happen.
No out ball & I still don't get why Cannon never gets a sniff.

I was criticised by certain people on here when we had a healthy points gap for suggesting that Enzo should take notice of the fans who were getting frustrated by our walking football.
I didn't suggest a change of formation or tactics but simply to raise the tempo of our play.
Yesterday proved that when we actually go with purpose on the front foot that we can be a handful.
It also highlighted the defensive deficiencies in the team.
It's a bit of a catch 22 imo and given that there is no team we have yet to play that have anything like what Chelsea have, wouldn't it be worth the gamble of trying to outscore the opposition rather than playing a game of chess which becomes very unsatisfactory when it doesn't come off ?

It was beyond bizarre of the manager they Daka was still on the pitch and still our only striker on the pitch at full time. Stubborn and stupid don’t come close.
I said exactly the same on another post.
Vesta off for Ian
Daka off for Cannon
This manager is now beginning to annoy me

Problem is because Enzo listened to the crowd we have changed the way we play and have less control. We need to go back to what we did start of season. Having more control of the football and dominating games.

Why so aggressive? I'm just saying what I'm seeing on the pitch. Ever since Enzo mentioned the crowd, he's slightly changed the way we play and gone a bit more direct. This has resulted in us having less control of the football match. I'm not the only one who has seen this as they have mentioned it on FT aswell.
