Villa Match Thread

We were very impressive, apart from the first 5 mins of the second half.

We made it easy to forget that we had a punishing away game in Europe midweek, only making two changes.

Thought Mendy was excellent when he came on, very tidy.

Always good to stuff the Villa

The whole team seemed 'flat' in last weeks Europa game, especially Vardy

Don't think we'll see that issue today - a real six-pointer, with Midlands derby flavour

It's surely "Vardy-Time" and ready for an outstanding team performance we will need, as Villa have been in fine form

A 2-1 win today would do me just fine, after Chelsea and Liverpool both dropped points yesterday
2 - 1 You were spot on mate

Not only brilliant in the first half but used that dominance to get two good goals. Stupid goal though given away. Wrong time, poor defending which then for one further mistake or one piece of genius could have meant two points lost. They were poor.
Should have had the cigars out on 70 mins but we won. Onwards and upwards.Very pleased and relieved.

Oh no not at all. The lad will go on to amazing things. I feel he can still improve massively.
His biggest problem at the moment is Vardy. A fully fit Vardy and more support from deep has been needed for a while. Today Vardy was very, very greedy with some finishing that had Nacho done it this place would've been in meltdown - each and every time Barnes was free in the box. Its great that Barnes can beat multiple players but he's not helped when Vardy (if at all) is the only person close to him when he enters the box.

Separate note - had a single 19 year old fullback had the games Thomas has had since playing for us the Sky pundits and dog shit rags would be queuing up to say he 'future England' this and that. Two individual pieces of defending today that saved goals. Brilliant, brilliant play.

All aspects of his performance today was top class.
He’d clearly had instructions to be right on traore’s back as soon as he receives the ball no matter how high up the pitch it was.

Spurs are on course for another victory parade...

I'm also amazed that Youri Tielemans seems to play every game at the moment. I trust BR etc. know what they are doing (i.e. monitor this) but I'm sure he could also do with a rest at some point.

That was a hell of a performance by Thomas in perhaps his 10th first team start

Hope it wasn’t lost on the watching England manager

Pen, I think he’s a massive talent and he’s going to be a much sort after player at the end of the season especially if he’s coached and encouraged properly Sometimes players like him can fade away when the adulation fucks them up though

He can't rest him though as we have nobody to replace him with as Praet is injured.
