Trevor Francis RIP

The first football match i was taken to when i went into exile in Birmingham was to Saint Andrews (v Ipswich i think) and they were all talking about this young lad that had just broken into the first team, a 16 year old called Trevor Francis.
Can't remember too much about the game as i was overawed by being in this corrugated iron clad bowl, stood on open concrete terracing with loads of loud Brummies shouting about and drinking Bovril.
The people that took me were determined to convert me into a "Blues" fan, but i resisted and stayed true to my hometown club.

Sad news that just reminds me of our inevitable fate.
Can't say i was a fan of his punditry but no denying he was a bloody good striker
RIP Trevor

His hat trick goal for QPR at Villa is one of my all time favourite goals. It’s just class, I remember trying to recreate it in the garden.

Lovely bloke too, not an ounce of professional footballer Billy Big-Bollox in him.

I also seem to remember him ripping us to pieces as a 17 year old at Filbo. a 4-1 defeat I think.
It was January time & it may well have been the last game we lost in that promotion season

I went to that Game, I remember Colin Mackleworth playing as Shilton was injured

As with others above, liked him as a player. Hated him as a pundit. Didn't know anything about him as a man. RIP.

Too early to go. I can picture him now in that Brum shirt, flapping like a sail in a breeze.

As everyone has said, the first £1m player, after having made such an impact against Mackleworth, the first £1 one.

"Take your hands out your pockets young man"
B Clough.
so young RIP
After his first game for F***t the team bus dropped him off at same motorway roundabout they picked him up from.

Million pound footballer left on the side of the road in days before mobile phones.

When he signed for Forest during the press conference the tv reporter asked him when he thought he would play,?
He had no time to answer as B Clough replied "when I pick him"
Great player seemed to be level headed, not like some today.
RIP Trevor
