The Tories slashed the amount that central government give to local councils, hence so many being on the verge of going bust.
This gives local councils desperately needed funds.

I already help fund Charnwood BC and Leics County Council.
I worked in LG for over 25 years so do understand the financial situation

There’s only so much blood you can squeeze out of people, call it what you want blame who you want but there are limits. Central government doesn’t have money they just distribute ours

Until the price of ever increasing costs and wages is covered. Have you seen the state of the roads in the UK? Where do you think the money is going?

Then you must be travelling to some expensive countries, and if you can do that, tough shit. Try holidaying in Britain.

In France "tourist tax" is from 0.2 euros to 4 euros a night other than in certain Parisian Hotels. Even in the UK you can pay more than that for a pint.
