my first game was 1965, l didn't understand much about City but l knew we were a good team. I got a lot of understanding of City from my grandad, who watched City but was more into playing, he would slag us off a lot actually.

One thing that he always said was that Grahame Cross was better than Moore and Moore only got to play for England as he was a cockney. My grandad had seen Cross play from his Linwood school days as he played in the same team as his son, my uncle.

My step dad who watched us play all the time in those days said the double in 63 was ours to lose. What did us is we had to play an incredible 13 games including cup matches in just a 45 day period with just 3 of those at home. We actually played 3 matches in a 4 day period in April! With the way travel was on those days ( no overnight stays) he reckoned we literally ran out of steam. We also had a couple of injuries to key players which wasn’t surprising as it wasn’t a squad game in those days.

Yes we did I think it was Keyworth and King were two can't remember the others
I remember Frank Mac telling me later
About the semi Final of that year at Hillsborough on the bus to Anstey that we got away with daylight robbery, he was courting an Anstey girl at the time.
