Stringer On Radio Leicester ......

So, what's happened then ? Come on, someone must know. Been reading that his replacement has been getting loads of flack on the internet for his commentary already ......

I think OPA is a great commentator. Just gets on with the job without the constant ego polishing and lad's jolly stuff. And Piper a decent summariser.
I also notice another good lad from our parish, Mike McCarthy is back on board after a few years away.
Replacement or temporary stand in?

I really like OPA. For a guy so young he comes across as knowledgeable about the club ( as is possible without having lived the history like most of us on here), he’s eloquent, speaking proper English as opposed to many in the football world who can hardly string 3 words of English together as opposed to a lot of the Germans, French, Spaniards etc and isn’t fazed by interviewing the likes of BR. Whether he was ever being groomed as Stringers replacement I don’t know but I’d guess he never thought he’d get the gig so soon. Give him a chance.

The entire Radio Leicester sports production programming needs an overhaul. ‘The Boot Room’ has to go, and someone with a little sports Radio experience needs to be recruited

I hope he finds his own style and veers away from the Stringerisms. But at the minute I’m afraid I can’t listen to him. The Palace game was a terrible listen.

I thought he had some mental health issues? I've had mine in the past, that's the trouble supporting City. ❤️

Saw Stringer last night with his lad, he has reverted to being ' a fan' & assume he is now a paying punter, which is no bad thing.
Thought I saw him walking to the game with his daughter. He was head and shoulders better than what came before him despite being a bit theatrical at times. Hope he gets back to doing what he clearly enjoyed

Well said. For a young guy, thrown in the dead end earlier than expected, and the responsibility he’s suddenly taken on, he gets better week by week.

At times he may seem like Stringer mark II but remember he’s been schooled by him and he’s definitely developing his own style and, one of his earlier issues in asking the same question in different ways, seems to have been eradicated (and probably the most thankful guy for that is Matt Piper).

I don’t have certainty over this but that’s my understanding too.
A few things may have caught up with him and it’s a case of taking time out. And we don’t know what’s happened recently to prompt him being absent.
I thought after the death of Vichai his personal display of the grief was at times extreme, but that was before I knew the traumatic circumstances of his mum’s death about 18 months earlier.
These things can stack up.

Looked into IS's absence, it's 'stress'.
Wish him well as I would anyone.
Freelance Mike McCarthy is standing in.
