Striker better than Subbuteo ?

Still going through old magazines and saw this..loved striker much more robust than subbuteo..till a unruly pal would come round and smack the players head with his palm causing untold damage to the players wired neck...

I remember playing 2 board games.

Soccerama which was good and endorsed by world cup winner Alan Ball.

And Soccerboss which was good but complicated and we didn't play it much

Yeah but are we talking Striker with the "Gary Sprake throw" model goalkeepers or the later diving ones? And why did all the players look like Bruce Rioch?

Liked striker as the ball used to bounce off the side tape bit like indoor 5 a side.. my subbuteo skills weren't as good as a kid so plenty of throw ins ( or kick ins if you didn't have the throw in accessory player )

I went from Subbuteo to an ice hockey game on legs, where you controlled the players with long rods that made them run and shoot and swivel. The Lubenham Blue Flames won the Stanley Cup almost every year (against the Nanpatan North Stars).

Super Striker was only for the rich kids.
I guess today's game would have Diving Strikers...
I'm very tempted to enjoy a game of (regular) Striker tomorrow as a precursor to the semi, as I'm privileged to have my somehow-undamaged version in the attic (y)

Soccerama, that rings a bell. I can't picture it though

& You can pick up a copy for £3. Doubt if my lad would be impressed though
