Stenhousemuir

I remember fondly when Leicester City would embark on preseason tours North of the border.
Ayr, Motherwell, Perth, Paisley, Kilmarnock, Greenock . Usually a good weeks stay in Scotland. But, the most interesting games were picked from the fixtures listed in the Daily Record on the days the City weren't in action.
Stenhousemuir, Albion Rovers, St.Mirren v Aston Villa..that was a brilliant evening with the Villa fans.
The trip to Stenhousemuir stands out. Fans of numerous English clubs were in attendance, ticking off the gounds visited.
I enjoyed being invited into the board rooms of Morton and St Johnstone after declaring I was up from England .
Happy memories of a bygone era.
Hardest Scottish ground to find back then.....(no Internet).....East Stirlingshire.
Just don't ask for a Scotch pie.......

Used to follow Motherwell in the 40/50's as my brother was stationed near there, another middle of the road side very little success apart from the early 50s when they won the cup, but done nothing of note since.
Fir Park weird little ground.

The mighty “Well” won the Scottish cup in 1991.
I was at Hampden Park that day with a couple of other Leicester fans.
They beat Dundee Utd 4 - 3, and it was the same day that the Spuds beat F***st and Gaza picked up a serious injury with a reckless tackle.
To celebrate the win, that evening, the pubs around Motherwell charged punters 1950’s beer prices.

My adopted club. Due to meeting a Wycombe fan (sadly no longer with us) at a wedding in the middle of Wales, getting pissed together and agreeing to follow the most non descript lower league Scottish club possible.
It's how we should all pick our teams. classic 😁 😁 (y)

Is this the first time for Stenhousemuir to feature on the Roof?
Maybe. But it won't be last from now on. I'll be looking for their result from now. Perhaps get a bus up from the roof and make a weekend up there to watch them?
