5 sacks of Red Desiree harvested down here.
Had to do loads of watering but it foesn't really make up for the lack of rain.
Some of the spuds a bit smaller than usual but overall not too bad.
Good year for peas and beans.
And fruit. Great year for all fruits.
Good crop of onions.
Asparagus good.

Maybe it was just me then. My soil is quite light and dries out quickly. Never quite got the rain at the right time. Used my butt water (ooh matron!) trying to keep my brassicas and beans alive. I was perhaps too busy on sunny days doing other things.

My spuds have been fantastic. Absolutely huge. Very happy. Red cabbage, beetroot, courgettes ( last ones picked today) cavelo Nero v good. Corn though average. Just didn’t get that many full cobs. Toms and lettuce though pretty good.

Is it just me or has the dry summer screwed the potato harvest?
My first and second earlies were great, slightly surprised that my maincrop hasn't been as prolific (numbers and size). Broad beans and green beans did well, peas ok, carrots, beetroot, broccoli and cauliflowers disappointing, brassicas nowhere to be seen. Onions good quality but rather small, garlic even more so. Salad leaves all done well (lettuce, spinach, chard). Haven't lifted leeks or parsnips yet. Tomatoes flowered prolifically but fruit has been disappointing, slow to ripen and quite bad blight. This is my first year with a vegetable garden (I've just dabbled in the past) so it's all about learning I guess.

Last year I had muntjac deer steal my sweetcorn and this year it was pidgeons feasting on my fledgling brassicas and bean plants. But I'm pleased to be doing my bit for wildlife.
