Someone asked on here if we knew anyone that had been poorly with Covid

Outfoxed

Roofer
A friend of mine, lives in Leicestershire, mid 50’s, overweight but no underlying health problems. Tested positive and felt a bit poorly with it. 3 weeks in intensive care, 4 weeks on a normal ward and now moved to Rutland Memorial Hospital to start rehabilitation. He’s still struggling to walk and will likely be off work for the next 6 months.
Still it’s only the flu eh don’t know what everyone’s moaning about.

Awful to hear.

Wonder if we will ever work out why some people breeze through this disease and others have their lives changed, or ended?

I don’t know mate, my dad is in his late 60’s and tested positive for it and was fine, I’m caught between thinking it was a false positive or he had it and was fine. Hoping it was the latter.

By “someone“ you mean the roughly 250000 dead or seriously ill for months ?

I've said it before.
i had a mate who got it (he was 64), went to ICU, went into a coma and died 6 days later, never woke up.
For some people it's a cough and a temperature, for others it's deadly.
It's complicated as to how hard it hits you, (general health, pre-existing conditons, genetics, diet etc), it's not as simple as simpledick makes out.

The people that say 'It's only flu' or that 'it's just a hoax' generally lack the intelligence to understand it.

David Baddiel put it quite well 'Conspiracy theory, I've said wearingly often, is how idiots get to feel like intellectuals.'
