James Maddison is in red hot form but he will miss the game after coming off with a a hip issue in the win at Aston Villa.

The attacking midfielder has scored six goals since the turn of the year and Brendan Rodgers says his absence is a "shame".

"He won't be available," said Rodgers.

"He is in consultation with our doctor and some specialists, we are just trying to see where we're at.

"When you have quality players out, it's a shame. [But] if they're not available, I can't overthink it.

"We have players who can come in and I'm confident we can get the job done."
Choudhury or Mendy in and push Tielmans further forward

I never got a good response to the question of why Arsenal chose to play this game in Athens some three and a half hours flight from London. Is there no country closer to home that will allow travellers from UK to enter without a period of isolation because of the Kent strain of the virus? Somewhere like Eindhoven I’d have thought would be perfect for this game or even Gothenburg.

@Filbo65 thought it was because Benfica chose the venue. As this is Arsenal’s home game I would have thought it was their call to choose the venue. Benfica will have chosen Rome for their home game last week.

Might be that Athens was the only City that would accept a team from Portugal due the the high Covid count in that Country, doesn’t look like the UK would allow them over here...

Could be. You’d think Italy would too if the first leg was played there.

Ah, didn't know it was Arsenal's home game. Mea culpa.

And to make this even more bonkers. Spuds played last night, Àrse tonight.
UEFA don’t allow two clubs from the same city to play on the same night. However
1). There are no fans so why bother?
2). Arsenal’s home game is 2000 miles away so why bother.
Who are paying these idiots. Oh yes us, the fans. That’s ok then

Stupid eh. Still it’s Spurs and they’re irrelevant.

Top 4 gets us CL, 13 games to play, we can afford to lose three.
EL gets us CL but 7 to play and you can't really afford to lose any.
If we go out of this we can really go for top 4 as we'll have a few midweeks off.

Still hoping we beat the cheating fuckers.
