Shame on you

Every match that i have seen so far this weekend has had a professional bugle player.
Wether that be serving or ex forces or just someone who knows how to play the last post in its entirety.
What do Forest do, rope in some kid who was well out of his depth. Embarrassing to say the least.

Didn’t see the forest one but ours was outstanding.

On the same theme, the silence during the performance of the Last Post was also outstanding. This was at a Leicester- Leeds football match…….
As much as we criticise modern football, modern life etc, this silence would not only not have been observed too well, but it would have been made a mockery of with both sets of fans chanting throughout in 1973, 83, 93 etc

This particular element of a show of respect is on the increase

….everything else is still shite though.

Yes and he screwed up which he’ll get absolute pellets for. Not thought through by the red filth at all

The lad was brave to do it in front of a full stadium. The occasion and nerves obviously got to him. Nice to see the players showing a bit more class towards him than you have.

Said the same to my lad on Friday, excellent rendition…

It’s a bit of a contradiction in terms to have a minutes silence while the last post is played. The silence should precede the tune and this has been abandoned at the ground over recent years. You just hope it won’t eventually be replaced by a minutes applause. I do agree though that our man played beautifully.

It was a good few years ago now where a simple request over the tannoy of “ their will be a 2 minutes silence after the playing of the last post” was too confusing for many to understand & a breakout of applause once it finished just created a domino effect, so they just don’t bother asking now.

Friday nights rendition tops anything lve heard since beautifully balanced in tone and the crescendo finish wonderful the stone silence was made it epic

You’re right Loz, but surely the answer to that is because, down the years, the attempts to get a minute’s silence from two sets of football fans has been futile.
It’s only recent times, (I’d say post 9/11) that it has become better observed.

I was told by someone who plays it that it's a very difficult piece to play, even without the emotions and audience involved.
Truly ridiculous for that kid to take it on.
Felt for the kid, live on the box and in front of a big crowd, he should’ve had the music as a safety net anyway, I’ve played it every Remembrance Day for about 40 years and still use the music as worried I might forget it, I blame Forest anyway, I know the guy who does ours and he was the best by far that weekend 🎺🎶
