Scotland v England

England let them back in by taking all the tempo out of their own game. Rubbish and tedious since HT
To be fair, Scotland looked like they had a good talking to at half time and came at us, helped by good old Harry coming on at half time. The difference in class told at the end. I can't believe Bellingham has only just turned 20. What a player.

I used to love these matches when i was married to my Scottish wife, now im divorced its not the same but i do wish the best of luck to Scotland in their qualifiers.
👍

More a case of Southgate saying " let them have the ball for 20 minutes and we can practice our defensive shape" which was going well until slab head hung a lazy foot out.

England were so sufficiently superior all over the pitch that they didn't need to reduce the match to walking pace. This was England v Scotland and knowing the usual anti English vitriol I would have no compunction if England had rubbed Scotland's noses in it.
Instead they invited a few scary moments with some sloppy passing in front of our own goal ( sounds familiar)
It took the big lumps personal contribution to wake England up again.

I concur about Bellingham and with players like him, Foden, Saka, Rice, Grealish and the team in general, I maybe foolishly thinking that this England team could do something big.

Worrying thing for England to me was rice strolling around thinking he’s billy big bollocks now he’s at a big six club, he’ll soon get found out when we play anyone any good

With the right management, definitely. Let's see if it's Southgate. I think the starting lineup last night is about the best one.
Southgate's era has been a massive improvement on those of Hodgson, Capello, McClaren, etc. He's brought a dose of sanity and clarity after years of stodgy confusion and ineptitude. The players seem to enjoy playing for their country and the squad seems a happy one. This is all good.

However he is a conservative coach by nature and that won't change. He is very wary of bold attacking selections and shows little inclination to switch tactics mid-game if things aren't working. When we're under the cosh he just seems to stand on the side looking perplexed until we concede, then make a like-for-like substitution. It's because of this conservatism that he will likely never be a top club manager when he leaves the England job.

Will his man management skills and ability to nurture a positive atmosphere be enough to overcome his lack of tactical sophistication when it really matters? Probably not, but let's see. He'll probably leave after that tournament, but I'm not convinced the FA will appoint anybody better...

England must have impressed judging by Souness’s post match compliments (whilst apparently sucking a particularly sour lemon)

I dont bear them any ill feeling, we have had some fantastic players from Scotland over the years.
In the main, it's the same as with the fucking irish – they hate us, but lots of soft-shites here can't see past the super-thin veneer of smiley-ness that they use to extract as much money as possible from us (whilst hating us with a vengeance). Just MHO, natch.

If the Scots don’t like you they’ll tell you. There’s no messing with them.

I think you’re all being very discriminatory about our neighbours.

None of you have mentioned the Welsh and ‘Taffy was as Welshman, Taffy was a thief’.

The Scots don't like us because they have always been subservient to us. Scotland has always needed England, never vice versa.

The Oil is under the north sea, not Scotland & there's only so much a country can do when its leading products are alcohol, biscuits & deep fried anything.
If it's under the north sea then how do we have the right to claim it? Territorial waters?
If that's the case and Scotland hadn't been part of the UK surely it would be in their territorial waters?
