Schmeichel

Saturday evening Kasper kept trying to chip the ball, probably to Allbrighton, about ten yards inside our half, right on the touchline. Man City had obviously been briefed and nullified this, I once saw KDB run to the touchline when he saw the ball at Kaspers feet, and KS duly obliged. So we never got out of our half in the first half
Now Kasper has had a great season, but he needs to use his loaf a bit more regarding his distribution.

On one occasion there were x3 players surrounding Albright and no pace on the ball as it drifted down. I know we're often over critical but this doesn't just happen now and again. Either Vardy or Nacho should be making runs too as different options. If fans were in the ground I'm sure Kasper wouldn't dick about so much.

They closed us down very quickly when Kasper was in possession you could count 4 or 5 Man City players on or near the penalty area.It didn't help that Youri had a day to forget.

schmeichels throw outs have always been better than his kick outs. I know the risk is higher, but i wish he'd t utilise it more often to beat the press.

I’m in the ‘Hoof The Fucker Sometimes’ camp, too. That chip Schmeichel does reminds me of the 7 iron shots I’d often do on the pitch and putt at Wicksteed. More often than not, they’d end up in the caboose of the train.

He's more likely playing to Brendan's orders,if he cannot carry out the way he wishes the team to play then this might have consequences in the future.?

I think its exactly this. Whats noticeable is that when Kaspers wide balls do come off it gave the FBs the chance to give the ball to both Ndidi and Tielemans who then had time on the ball. It happened a few times - the problem is Tielemans wasn't on it and his distribution in those spaces was poor (amongst quite a few other poor performances including the 2 week break Vardy).

But I will add Kasper is part of that panic. I can only think of maybe 3 teams that has pressed us over the years successfully (Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal) and in every game Kaspers persists with the distribution and heightens the panic. For a so called experienced player its entry level in game intelligence.

For a top Goalkeeper, his distribution is woeful. It begs the question whether the training they do in this particular area is up to the mark needed..

Just leather the feckin ball, let the opposition defend it, edge of the chair stuff when we start arsing about around the 18 yard box.... 🥾⚽👍
