Let's hope they don't get 12 points so that we can be the first city to have both their football and cricket clubs relegated thanks to a points deduction (or cheating).
The county were cleared of cheating, this is one of the main poonts of their argument.

I have never really understood why the County Championship was divided in the first place, but can a Roofer explain to me what difference it makes, what division you are in.

I think the main reason was to reduce the number of games that had to be played, and to introduce the jeopardy of relegation / promotion, and reduce the number of meaningless games.
But nowadays it's about prestige, principally. Winning Div1 is now what winning the single division was – even though it's less of an achievement in my book.
Centrally-contracted England players play a couple of games at the start and maybe end of the season, and generally speaking there are better overseas players in the Div1 teams.
Usually a couple more games might be at the bigger test grounds.
But I don't think there's much difference in money, but I might be wrong on that...

Prize money in div1 is roughly double the money in div 2. They divided the teams because they thought it would make it more competitive, they have fucked div 1 because not all teams play each other which is unfair. At the start of the season we played Sussex twice when Ollie Robinson was available he didnt play much after that, im sure other teams can claim similar.

I think the uneven fixtures used to happen in Div2 as well? Utter madness IMO.
Interesting prize money figures – we got the same for winning Div2 last year as the runners-up in Div1 got this year. Bet we got about a tenner this year. I wonder how much salary difference there's been?

At the end of the day, I suppose it all revolves around the Hundred.
I hope the County invest their share in improving the ground at Grace Road, I believe 2027 is the last season for the ground to be called Upton Steel Grace Road. Mattioli Woods anyone? :)
