Rodgers fault?

True, But he decided at no stage during the whole game to hook sillymans for continuously playing those misplaced passes did he.
Conte on the other hand soon subbed royal for clearly not playing well & replaced him with Doherty.
I don’t think Tielmans played that badly throughout. Bad error at the end, but only a couple of misplaced passes before that. He remains our best player and there was no way Rodgers was going to take him off because in the main he was still orchestrating our play.

I think he made the right substitutions ... what when wrong was individual errors costing us ... the main two being Barnes not passing to Lookman to secure a 3-1 lead and then Tielmans not finding Albrighton or Justin on the flanks.

And I should add there was also the John Moss factor. I still can’t find where he found the need to add over two minutes to the 5 we were due to play - was there really almost half those 5 minutes time wasted because I can’t recall them.

Tielemans was gash all night.
Taking off Dewsbry Hall was a big error - the only player in our midfield with some energy and bite to win the ball.
When they scored their second is when Rodgers needed to earn his money. Call some players over to him, tell them a 2-2 draw is creditable, and get their heads back. Instead they charged up front like school kids playing next goal’s the winner, Tielemans gave them the ball, and left out wobbly CBS and dodgy keeper to face 2 forwards having a great night. Rodgers fault yes. Those are the moments he doesn’t show up. Serial bottle job.

Sorry - he wasn’t ‘gash all night’. If you can see whether you can watch the game again on BT - Tielemans was at some point involved in most of what we did well.
KDH was knackered, had run out of energy and could hardly run.
Tielemans did decide to play school playground football in the 97th minute - as I said elsewhere - and was at fault for their 3rd goal. Not Rodgers. He may not get everything right but don’t lay the blame for what tielemans inexplicably did at Rodgers door.

i think he only played about 20 seconds over the 5 minutes indicated. (the rest of the time was resetting after the goals, and waiting for VAR to complete their check). given there was the dive/push/booking within that 5 minutes i think his time keeping was ok.

the real crime is why there was five minutes in the first place - and i think we need to be looking at ourselves for that. we had (i think) three players go down for treatment, and none of them were subbed. we also had maddison taking an age with every free kick / corner. cut out some of that and the game finishes long before either spuds goal.

Tielemans was jointly the worse/ most ineffective player on that pitch Wednesday alongside soyuncu & vestergaard.
I don’t go along with what some on here said about him downing tools & not being bothered ( due to probably leaving), just don’t see him as that type of guy at all. He was just absolutely no where near upto the pace of the game. He looked shockingly unfit which must have contributed to his awful passing all night.

5 substitions at 30 seconds a pop

I agree with that. Tielemans had a very poor game and has been decidedly average for most of the season, He wants away and will be gone in the summer. KDH and Maddison both performed admirablyand the former should not have been subbed. But the big miss in midfield is obviously Ndidi.

Whilst Tilemans can be brilliant, he can be equally piss poor, and it is unusual for him to be the later. He has spells where he is nigh on world class, then losses of form. He doesnt get injured very often, but takes ages to regain his form. Youri was at one time, the hottest property in Europe, I think this inconsistency was the reason he didnt reach the peak.

KDH had cramp and could hardly walk, so he had to go off!

Well i'm still blaming Kasper - why he hoofed it the length of the pich with less than a minute to go is baffling. I just knew we'd give it away AGAIN and they'd counter at speed as they did all game. Surely some tippy tappy would've seen the game out - we like tippy tappy ffs!
