League table 3rd May 2014

Leicester City P46 W31 D9 L6 F84 A44 PTS 102

Based on that the team need another 7 wins, we have drawn 3 so far and conceded late on all 3 so I can't see another 6 draws but would accept now draws v Saints and Leeds. Goals for at the moment is 65, so 2 plus a game or even a slight drop off would be 90 plus goals. Pearson's team were in terrific form after Christmas to finish above Burnley who were on 93. Southampton and Leeds might get around 95 points based on current form so Enzo's team just need to plough on and make hay whilst the sun shines against these bottom half teams before the battles ahead v Leeds, Saints and maybe WBA.

If Leeds especially don’t beat us we’ll be fine. I expect them to be further behind before they play us. Southampton will drop points too in February. Some tough games. We need to win the next 3 and I think that’ll be about it. There’s no reason to doubt it unless we have some injuries to key players

Another 28 points - 8 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats [- puts us on 100. Hard to see two other teams topping that.

I say that as a glass half empty type of person, but remember a similar exercise not long ago convincing me that we couldn't realistically miss out on a top four finish, and that didn't end well!

I would say March is always the deciding month in a promotion season, winning and creating a bigger gap from any teams chasing. It was the same in 2002/03 under Micky Adams, I remember seeing Clarence (Trevor Benjamin) getting a brace at Turf Moor to see off Burnley. Back in the 2008/09 division 1 season we only won 2 of the 6 games in March with defeats at Tranmere and Peterborough. We lost just 4 games that season, winning 27 with 15 draws for 96 points, Peterborough were second with 89 points, Leeds were 4th on 87 points.

I haven't checked but read on FT that in Southampton's run of 21 unbeaten the highest placed team they have played was Cardiff in 13th.
12 of their remaining games are against teams in the top half.

I don’t read FT, but, it was moi who posted this stat on the thread “considered buckin opinion”
I thought they had easy games for a while but that stat would look to confirm it. Replay tonight as well so an extra game.

They have also drawn a lot of games so there is only actually a net two point gain over us since their last defeat. No one is catching us unless we implode...

So they've only played 12 different teams in 21 games???

Even accepting it may refer to where teams were at the time the games were played as opposed to now, the fact that the run includes clubs like Leeds & Hull means I think we can say that this "fact" is probably bollocks.

My humble apologies, don’t know how I missed out Leeds and Hull.
I also missed WBA.
Must be my age 😒
