JJ the left back.

Chalk & cheese for sure.
Was thinking about this during the game. You look at Justin & first & foremost he knows he has to defend, that’s his priority but when he gets a chance & the odds are in his favour he gets up that line is always a threat when he does so.
Chilwell is totally opposite, he doesn’t know how too & can’t defend, plus he carries no threat going forward.
It’s blummin marvellous

I said to the missus that JJ just goes to show there are still gems to be found without spending a fortune. He will be kicking himself for missing that header.

Compare their temperament.

Chilwell does something bad and goes hiding. Look at today, a few misplaced passes, and losses of possession, early in the game and he went missing. Barely saw him after 20mins. We witnessed it plenty of times for us.

JJ just keeps going, like a machine. Good or bad. Always positive, never moans, just keeps going. Fantastic attitude.

Brendan described him as a ‘machine’. That about nails it. He had more energy than our entire team (including Ricardo who’d been on 5 mins) in those last 10-15 mins. He got ahead of everybody on runs and overlaps except the central striker. Huge engine. Pass to burn. The only blot is he should’ve scored today.

Justin has improved massively from the player that cost us numerous goals earlier in the season. Massive credit to him and the coaching team.

Chilwell always was massively over rated and anyone who watched him week in week out knew that. Can’t defend, can’t cross and has very little positive impact on the game. £50m!!!!!!!!!

Thought JJ played really, really well.

If we want to look on the other side... well, every time I have seen Chelsea this season the striking thing has been they don't play a back 3 or back 4 'cos the left side is never there. This is deliberate. It is the plan to utilise Chilwell down the wings, he is always around or in front of the half way line but - and this is one of the reasons Lampard is in trouble - it only works if Chelsea are controlling the game to the extent that when the opposition have the ball they are hurrying and not exploiting it. This is not Chilwell's weakness (though he cannot defend), it is Lampard's; last season's 4th place finish (from an indifferent start and a terrible middle) followed by a decent start this year has masked some serious deficiencies and they are getting close to the point where to turn it around it will need some concentration on shoring up the defence to then use that as a platform for the forwards to do their stuff.

Chilwell tonight epitomised what most of us who watch him have known for quite a time. From where I sit at the KP ( between SK1/2) I’d watch him come down the line and stop. It was like the buckin Hokey Kokey. Stop start turn stop start turn. But his biggest problem is he can’t defend very well. Not IMO. Every 50/50 he’d dip out.
What he has done at Chelsea is get forward more but this puts his defensive duties into possible trouble.
He was THE one player I wasn’t worried about losing in the last 5 years. £50m. Great business

A CFC-supporting mate was moaning to me only yesterday about Chilwell constantly passing it back to the half-way line. I double-checked that he's not a regular on here without me knowing, before laughing in agreement :)

You should have said ‘welcome to our previous world’!
