It is a very sad case, the guy appears to have been a fantasist and way out of his depth and surely Cambridge University had a duty of care towards him when they found out the fabrications. It appears that they doubled down on the issue publicly in defence rather than addressing it in house on the contrary and preventing such a horrific outcome. Blinded by their own DEI policies.

I doubt there would’ve been 1% of the outrage had it been a white professor that had done exactly the same as Jason Arday.

If it was a white professor they would not have been allowed to get as far as poor Jason did.
There were many times where he could have been stopped from himself, with the tall tales and obvious lies. He could and should have received the help he so obviously needed. Instead DEI and the fawning over a black man with intelligence was enough for the wokerati (especially Cambridge) to ignore any kind of due dilligence and let him get on with it.
No check of his work was done and when it was, the first thing that comes into a lot of peoples heads is racism. A lot of people say he was hounded into suicide but was that the issue here? He put himself into the public spotlight so there was imo a reason to report. It is far more likely that the fantasy world was crashing down and he felt no way out. Heartbreaking.
If he had been saved from himself, he would quite possibly still be alive. You have to feel for his wife and kids. So sad.
Yeah, let’s blame the person or the people that gave him the role & not the hounders.
Noted there are a number of other (white) professors that have also lied, plagiarised or even been accused of sexual offences, & were either allowed to continue or return to their roles.
Like I said, not 1% of the publicity or the pile-on.
